    21 Savage Says Scared People Stay Alive Longer

    In the rap community, most emcees have a reputation to uphold. It’s not too often that they show their vulnerable side. Though, in recent years, that’s all begun to change. More than ever, rappers are telling their heartfelt personal narratives and exposing their soft underbellies. Not only in music are rappers sharing their innermost thoughts, but also in their everyday lives.

    With gun and gang violence taking a toll on the rap community, several emcees have admitted they’re afraid to step outside their doors. Recently, 21 Savage revealed that he’s paranoid 24/7. Even so, he believes his fear keeps him alive moreso than his friends and colleagues.

    21 Savage Will Drive Around the Block Several Times

    21 Savage may be a lot of things, though no one would’ve guessed that he fears the world. During a recent appearance on Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast, the Atlanta rapper admitted he’s paranoid all the time. The “Her Loss” rap star feels as though he’s constantly being watched or spied on. Unfortunately, 21 Savage has witnessed one too many deaths in his lifetime. As a result, those traumatizing memories have stuck with him forever. 

    “I’m scared of everybody, n****a . . . Scared n****as stay alive. ‘Cause I done seen it . . . I been shot. I seen my friend die, in my face, on my birthday. In the car, too,” the Atlanta rapper told Akademiks. The rapper has been a victim and witness of gun violence all his life it seems. It’s no wonder he drives circles around his house before actually going inside. His fear keeps him alive. It’s a sad truth for the rapper, but it’s the very difference between dying and staying alive.

    In addition, he provided his heartfelt commentary on Takeoff’s murder. Like much of the rap community, 21 Savage doesn’t believe his colleague deserved such a horrific fate. He described the Migos rapper’s death as “the worst one” he’s witnessed in his life.

    Unfortunately, the world of rap isn’t as safely guarded as it should be, given the nature of violence that surrounds it. Hopefully, more measures are taken to ensure the safety and longevity of our black creatives.

    What Would The End Of Twitter Mean For The Culture

    It may be the end of Twitter as we know it. BoyzIIMen was ahead of their time when they said, “It’s so hard to say goodbye”. Because I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life if Twitter goes down. For example, what am I supposed to do at work now? I hope y’all don’t expect me to be productive. Twitter played an essential role in popular culture, and I can’t imagine a world without it.

    Say Goodbye

    Ever since Elon Musk bought the majority of Twitter stocks, shit has hit the fan. The app has gone through so many changes that it doesn’t even feel like the same app we know and love. Not only did the new features upset the longtime fans. But the entire shift of power completely messed up the staff, too. They have had such a crazy turnover rather with multiple firings and resignations. Word on the street is that the app could be soon seeing its last days due to the small staff.

    I don’t think Elon or anyone on the staff understands the importance of Twitter on the culture, especially Black people with Black Twitter Even though sometimes it can be unreliable, for the most part, we look at Twitter at as a news source. No longer are people waking up and checking the newspaper. But instead, they’re going straight to Twitter to stay updated. Not only that, but Twitter allows people to receive live updates, something which is almost unheard of.

    What will happen to Twitter? All the outstanding features made Twitter untouchable. To me, by far it’s the best social media app. The proof is in the pudding. Anytime I see a meme on Facebook or Instagram, it’s always something that I have seen prior on Twitter. There’s no denying that Twitter was the superior app.

    Keeping Hope Alive

    Hopefully, nothing happens to Twitter, and it continues to see the light of day. But it’s never a good sign when half of the employees of a company quit. I wouldn’t consider myself tech-savvy, but I know for a fact that a website that big won’t survive with a small staff.

    Over the past month, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has had his eye out for free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. While they’ve made splashes this year of greatness, they’re far too inconsistent to either be considered a Super Bowl contender. However, Jerry Jones may be stuck at the moment as they pumbled the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend, 40-3.

    “There’s not a perfect game,” the owner said during his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “But that’s the best I’ve seen as far as being a complete game since I’ve been a part of the Cowboys.”

    As stated prior, while they’re not a true contender. At the moment, the inquiry of Beckham may push them over the edge to becoming legitimate in the NFC. Jones is on record not only advocating but essentially agreeing to have Beckham come on the team and produce immediately. In fact, Tuesday morning, Jones expressed he intends on signing Beckham to be full-fledged and his opinion on improving a team that he believes can win now.

    “If you can improve this team right now and it’s within reason, you should do it.”

    Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Game

    The NFC East is a very tight race, with the Cowboys trailing the Philadelphia Eagles by two games. If they’re not able to catch the Eagles, they are still in good shape as they face some of the worst teams in football to close out the season. While dominating the Vikings Jones envisions that Cowboys being a force to be reckoned with.

    “Because of Deion (Sanders) and Michael (Irvin) and many other players long after they’ve left the football field, there’s credibility from working with those guys and keeping great relationships,” Jones said. “It’s an advantage when you’re sitting down to meet with Herschel (Walker) or these high-profile guys because all they have to do is pick up the phone and ask the others what happens after they quit playing.”

    Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are celebrating the birth of their first baby, Noah Hasani. The story of his birth continues to be a celestial affair. Aiko had posted a nude, space-themed pregnancy photo to her Instagram to help announce the pregnancy of her second child back in July.

    Around that same time, Aiko and Big Sean also posted a glowing couple photo.

    Aiko followed-up on the out-of-this-world theme by captioning a series of photos, one of which is her new baby dressed in a Star Wars-inspired onesie, “after 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came [emoji] my baby Yoda, my Sani”.

    Artist and baby daddy, Big Sean, seems equally over the moon with the news. Big Sean also posted a few pictures to his own social media account.

    Why Did The AMAs Cancel Chris Brown?

    Chris Brown was intended to perform a Michael Jackson tribute with Ciara at this year’s AMAs. The performance was scrapped at the last minute. A statement released by Dick Clark Productions states the decision was due to “differences of creative direction”, Entertainment Tonight reports. In addition to not performing, Brown decided not to attend the event.

    It is unclear what the real reason behind the controversial decision is. The explanation is convenient and vague, but it makes sense on the heels of “cancel culture”. Chris Brown performed a Michael Jackson tribute at the BET Awards way back in 2010. Of course, the BET Awards and the AMAs are two very different award shows. And 2010 and 2022 are two very different cultural contexts.

    Still, many celebrities are coming to Chris’s defense. Kelly Rowland was presenting the award that Chris won, and she responded with support for Chris after the audience booed his win. Jordin Sparks chimed in with a similar plea, urging for forgiveness. Chris himself posted rehearsal footage.

    While Ciara also posted footage of her rehearsing with the pop star. She also voiced her support for the artist. In a Tweet, she calls him a “rare breed of this generation.”

    Perhaps mainstream culture in general is a lot different twelve years later, but it is more likely that BET is simply a different platform than the AMAs. It seems that this year, the AMAs was asking very introspective questions about who they would like to be as an award show. As audience members, we should ask ourselves the same types of questions. Which artists do we as fans want to see honored with awards, tributes, and ceremonies? And, what do these artists represent about us fans?

    Giannis Antetokounmpo Argues with 76ers Montrez Harrell

    Last Friday, the Milwaukee Bucks took on the Philadelphia 76ers and things got a bit chippy between two popular players, reported Jordan Greer for Sporting News. Many recognize 76ers PF Montrez Harrel as the enforcer and a great asset off the bench to have on one’s team. While on the other hand people truly recognize Giannis Antetokounmpo as the best player in the NBA currently.

    Either way, these two players are respected for what they bring to a team. The 76ers in the game did a solid job of containing Giannis Antetokounmpo from getting easy buckets, however, it appears they attempted to stop trying to get buckets after the game as well. The 76ers went on to defeat the Bucks, 110-102, and as a result, Antetokounmpo wanted to attempt free throws after the game. Although he went 11 for 15 during the game, he felt the need to be excessive and practice directly after the game.

    However, Harrell didn’t appreciate the attitude and disrespect presented by the former MVP. After the game, he returned to the floor after the final buzzer, yet the most bizarre thing occurred.

    Is there real beef between the two?

    There appears to be no real issue between the two outside of this incident, however, going forward hopefully nothing transpires. The interaction between the two began with Harrell getting frustrated by the fact he was ignored by Antetokounmpo.

    “Aye make sure you get the complete story,” Harrell said. “I ask the man can he get off the court so I can workout they had to change the court over he ignores me hey that’s what you get! Respect is respect! GOODNIGHT!”

    This later was followed by words indicating he’s not on his home court, in fact, he’s in Philadelphia.

    “This isn’t f— Milwaukee,” Harrell told Antetokounmpo, according to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon. “Get that s— out of there.”

    Giannis Antetokounmpo Reacts

    While Antetokounmpo was told he wasn’t allowed to shoot anymore he ignored the commands and grabbed more basketballs to finish his shooting routine. However, once he returned back to the basket he realized there was a ladder blocking his entry to shooting. He began to grow frustrated and threw the ladder down risking several injuries to people nearby.

    “I respect every player,” Antetokounmpo said (via ESPN’s Tim Bontemps). “I know some players don’t play now, they want to get some extra work, want to work on their skills and stuff, and I said, obviously we can shoot together. They said, they told me no, this is their court, I should leave.

    “I was like, I have three more free throws, I was at seven, I want to try to make 10 in a row. I shot my eighth one. Came and took the ball away from me and I was very surprised. I feel like it’s very unprofessional. I would never take the ball away from a professional athlete when he’s trying to do his job.”

    Sinbad Suffers Back to Back Strokes, Will Walk On Stage Again

    Sinbad suffered from an ischemic stroke back in 2020. The stroke was caused by a blood clot in his brain that traveled from his heart. A thrombectomy was necessary in order to remove the clot. In total, two clots were removed. Next, a craniotomy was needed in order to “reduce brain swelling”. Finally, he was induced into a coma.

    According to his family, it took several weeks before Sinbad was responsive. He gradually moved from ventilator to intense therapy. He worked towards getting sent home in July 2021 by enrolling in the California Rehabilitation Institute in May of 2021.

    The family is accepting donations on his website. Gifts will go to the Adkins Trust to help support him on his healing journey as he continues to fight for his health back. They also say that the prayers from fans have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. Sinbad says he will not stop until he walks on stage again.

    The term used by J. Booth in his single “Dead” is a song interpreted as when someone cannot feel fantastic emotions such as happiness or sadness. He says he is “dead inside.”
