Dive In Deeper To Rapper Zelly Ocho’s Single “Duces”

    0

    New Rapper Alert!

Introducing Denzel Young, better known as the rapper Zelly Ocho. The recording artist is from Cleveland, Ohio, and has been grinding since the age of sixteen. Ocho is known for his beats and hard work ethic.

Ocho has released an endless list of mixtapes and singles that truly showcase his gift. While getting to work in collaborations with 16yrold and continues to work harder than ever to give fans something new.

HypeFresh Magazine would like to give a song review to one of his latest singles, “Duces.” The single came out in November and here’s what to expect.

    “Duces” Out Now

The Proud of Insanity star’s single is what fans should be blasting in their cars. The song, “Duces” is upbeat and has one’s friends calling it the next hit. One could even say the style is a bit similar to Travis Scott, with the mixing of fusions of traditional hip-hop and ambient.

The chorus starts, “Can’t even call my phone, I don’t even f*** with y’all,” and after fans are taken on a true hit single. The artist’s voice is a bit autotune and has a style to it that is like Lil Uzi Vert. Similar in ways from how Ocho delivers his lyrics from the style to effect in how it comes in the song.

In the song Ocho says, “…right or wrong. Who the f*** gon’ ride? Man I gotta know. These days ain’t the same, had to let you know. They switched up, they mad.” The Cleveland native does a great way of portraying what he says in each of his lyrics and over time realizes he has himself. In at times, that’s all one needs at the end of the day. Just like the chorus says, “Can’t even call my phone, I don’t even f*** with y’all.”

Check out the single on Apple Music, YouTube, and Spotify.

Berlin-based Singer/Songwriter SLATE Released Single “Poison Ivy”

Berlin-based singer and songwriter SLATE recently released a new single entitled “Poison Ivy,” which showcases how versatile his artistic skills and capabilities are as he displays a very vulnerable and dynamic side of his musicality on the new single.

“Poison Ivy” is a song that many people can listen to and relate to simultaneously due to the raw and authentic message left in the piece, which blends his melodic vocals into charming and moody instrumentation.

SLATE had a chat with us and answered our three unique questions. Take a look below.

HYPEFRESH: To begin, please introduce yourself. You can share your name, age, and where you’re from, as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

Slate: My name’s Alex Sommer. I’m an artist from Oakland, California. I grew up singing in the Grammy-award Pacific Boychoir Academy and received rigorous musical instruction from a very young age. I grew up without understanding or caring about genres because so many vastly different music was being played around me. Oakland is the home of a massive melting pot of international culture, and I am lucky to have absorbed what I was exposed to in my youth. Artists like Tupac, Souls of Mischief, Green Day, and many others come from the Town.

HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Poison Ivy”?

Slate: For all those unfortunate souls who have had a particularly virulent encounter with poison ivy, we’ve all learned the saying ‘leaves of three, let them be’ the hard way. But what about all the people who manifest what you call poison ivy? After dealing with a particularly toxic relationship and breakup a year ago, I wrote this song to wrap my head around how we all can exhibit toxic behavior in the context of relationships and with the ones we love.

It’s the feeling of knowing that—for whatever reason—you can’t hold someone close because of something innate about you or their being. That’s what the lyric ‘poison ivy grows out of my bones’ gets at. It’s when you feel a deep incompatibility that can’t be reached because it’s embedded in your core. And it doesn’t have to be purely toxic relationships, but any core incompatibility that someone feels with another or themselves.

Further, in the bridge, the metaphor takes a turn as it plays on the idea of ‘itching for love.’ Even though something is wrong, even though we know we shouldn’t itch our skin when we’re infected with poison ivy, we still absent-mindedly scratch at it and make it worse. In the same way, as hard as this toxic relationship was for me, I found myself itching for more because I was so wrapped up in it in a poisonous way.

More than anything, I hope people connect with this song and have the same catharsis I had while writing and performing it. It wasn’t an easy feeling to go through, and I want to digest it and give it back to people to help them.

HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?

Slate: Regarding the joy of being an artist, I appreciate a life oriented around struggle. That sounds cheesy, but I grew up in an intensive Montessori music school where you had to work hard from a young age. Then I played Division I soccer in college, so I’ve always had that hustler or athletic mentality.

The idea of grinding at my craft and having a space to express feelings that aren’t easily shared through casual conversation is a sacred process, and I want to inspire other people to pursue their creative path. I hope to better understand myself and the world by listening to other people’s music and creating my own. It is like learning a language. The more you teach yourself, the more you can understand others.

Jonathan Greenblatt Speaks on Antisemitism On The Breakfast Club

    2

Jonathan Greenblatt leads the ADL. On the Breakfast Club, John Greenblatt comments on the history of the Anti-Defamation League. Despite the Jewish centric origins of the organization, Greenblatt assures that they were founded with the joint mission to liberate all people.

Greenblatt had a calm conversation about his worries regarding the growing urgency of hate crimes against people who are Jewish. He notes that some of the most victimized groups within the Jewish community are those who are conservative or orthodox and therefore dress in a recognizably Jewish way. On the flip side, global anti-Blackness and colorism thrive on the inability for dark-skinned Black people to “pass” for fair-skinned white folk.

There are two sides to the same racist coin! More and more, political leaders see the need to unify all people who have face oppression. Most recently, GA Senator Raphael Warnock released his plan for combating antisemitism.

Whoopi Goldberg Taps Keke Palmer For “Sister Act 3”

It’s always nice to see stars keep succeeding in their craft. For instance, Keke Palmer has amassed huge success throughout her acting career. She has gone from acting as a child star on Disney to scoring a role in the sci-fi film NOPE. Not to mention, she’s on her way to becoming a first-time mother. Though, Keke Palmer isn’t done surprising audiences yet.

Recently, the NOPE star was tapped for a role in the third installment of the Sister Act movie franchise by none other than Whoopi Goldberg herself. Honestly, that’s an accomplishment all in itself.

    via YouTube

When it comes to great things happening to talented people, Keke Palmer certainly takes the cake. The soon-to-be-mother gushed about being tapped for a role in the upcoming film Sister Act 3 by Golden Globe winner Whoopi Goldberg.

Furthermore, The View moderator and EGOT’s winner Whoopi Goldberg revealed in October that she wanted Palmer to join her in the upcoming movie. The Color Purple star even admitted that she’s had her eye on Palmer for some time now.

Of course the NOPE star made it known that she was definitely on board to star alongside the legendary actress in the film. “My reaction was: Whoopi, where do I sign on the dotted line?” Palmer told the Los Angeles Times in a new podcast interview. I’m prepared, Whoopi. I’m prepared for whatever you require from me. Clearly, the 29-year-old actress is ready to be at Goldberg’s beck and call.

Whoopi Goldberg Just Wants To Have Fun Again

    https://youtu.be/_6xhp5clbKc

In addition to Keke Palmer, Goldberg also tapped female rappers Lizzo and Nicki Minaj for starring roles in Sister Act 3. During a recent appearance on Charlamagne’s tha God’s Hell of a Week series, Goldberg said that she’s ready to have some fun on the upcoming Tyler Perry–produced movie.

“I want Lizzo and the girl with the chest, what’s her name?… Nicki Minaj! I want Nicki to come in . . . I want as many people who want to have some fun.” Sounds like Whoopi Goldberg really needs to let her hair down.

Moreover, the Ghost star has teased the project on The View and interviewed several people involved in the film project. No word yet on when the film will make its grand return to the screen but we at Hypefresh will keep you updated on the details.

Hoodrich Pablo Juan Dodged A Bullet

    0

Nowadays, rap stars can’t seem to keep themselves out of jail. With the daunting presence of police brutality, it’s clear that the justice system is rigged. Unfortunately, rap stars face years long sentences and mistreatment behind bars.

Fortunately, organizations, famous stars and even politicians are improving conditions for inmates. They’re even offering them shorter jail sentences.

While rapper Hoodrich Pablo Juan didn’t necessarily have any help from any public figures, he did win a plea deal in his Georgia RICO case. The rapper almost faced 15 years behind bars. Looks like he dodged a huge bullet.

Rapper Hoodrich Pablo Juan Gets A Shorter Jail Sentence

As mentioned before, Hoodrich Pablo Juan and his lawyer reached a plea deal in his Georgia RICO case. Furthermore, Juan originally faced a 15-year jail sentence. The rapper faced accusations of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act that’s associated with the gang Rollin 20 Neighborhood Bloods.

Though, sources say the rapper will only have to serve time for five years. He’ll be on strict probation for the remaining 10 years, which will prohibit him from associating with gang members or carrying handguns. After securing a plea deal like that, probation should be a breeze for Juan.

    The Music Doesn’t Stop

At this point, the rapper has it made in the shade. His plea deal comes as a blessing, considering that the police arrested the former 1017 Eskimo signee back in October 2020 and denied bond. Making matters worse, he’s considered one of the 46 alleged co-conspirators that faced indictment on several counts of violations. Clearly, the rapper and others have a lot to answer for.

Despite all the charges against Juan, he’s still putting out new music. Since his incarceration in 2020, the rapper has dropped 3 new projects. Recently, Hoodrich Pablo Juan teamed up with Lil CJKasino for their Hoodrich Kasino project in March. Not even jail can stop a rapper from putting out new music.

Tay Toe Displays His Artistic Capabilities In “Life of Blues”

Showing all its authenticity and unique characteristics, with an incredible transition from a lighter footprint to a more striking vibe, fascinating American rapper Tay Toy caused quite a stir in the American music scene with his track called “Life of Blues.”

“Life of Blues” is a song that has in its DNA a variable beat that masterfully allows a change of energy and dazzling flow.

Tay Toy had a conversation with us and answered our three unique questions. Take a look below.

HYPEFRESH: Let’s begin by introducing ourselves. Just share your name, age, and where you’re from, as much or as little as you’d like.

Tay Toe: Hi, I’m Taylor Tovey. I’m 25 years old and live in Salt Lake City, Utah; I was born in Los Angeles, California. I also live in Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri.

HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Life of Blues”?

Tay Toe: I wrote “Life of Blues” for my younger brother. He grew up being an exceptional athlete, just like me, but eventually, he let drugs take over his life. He’s currently in and out of jail and prison in Los Angeles and other areas of California. I worry about losing him because of his drug problem.

I would want someone about to relapse or take their first hit to listen to this song and the lyrics. “Life of Blues” may have been written for my older brother, but anybody struggling with addiction can feel and hear the message.

HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?

Tay Toe: I love the emotions that are attached to meaningful music. I was listening to a playlist of sad songs the other day, and the words and feelings of those songs took my breath away.

I almost had to turn it off because it was so captivating. That is what I love about music, and I can do the same thing with my music. I had to work hard for ten years to become the writer that I am, but it was easy because music is my passion.

Sizzla Burns Platinum Plaques To Ashes

    0

Not everyone in Hollywood gets along with each other, as we all know. Rappers even write diss tracks to each other. Though, some artists take their feuds a bit too far. Recently, DJ Khaled’s long-time contributor Dancehall pioneer Sizzla got pissed at him on social media. The Jamaican artist lost his cool and burned to ashes all the commemorative platinum plaques given to all the Father of Asahd contributors. Turns out there’s bad blood between the two artists.

Sizzla Burns It All To Ashes

Everyone gets angry at times. However, some people express their frustration and hurt in more destructive ways than others. This past Thursday, Sizzla hopped online with several of his comrades to call out DJ Khaled for failing to recognize him as one of the contributors on his Father of Asahd album. The Dancehall artist called the hype man every name under the sun, including the devil. Additionally, Sizzla said the small print of his name on the plaques was disrespectful not only to him but the island of Jamaica.

Though, the dancehall pioneer didn’t stop with just calling out DJ Khaled. He even went as far to burn all the commemorative platinum plaques contributors received. Guess the two won’t be working together any time soon.

    Sizzla Doesn’t Play Games

After Sizzla burned the plaques, fans promptly shared their opinions on social media. While some believe he was way out of line, others argued that the Dancehall star isn’t a clout-chaser. Rather, the Jamaican artist is respected across his fanbase for his honesty. Die-hard fans believe that Sizzla had a reason for being upset with DJ Khaled and burning the plaques. In other words, don’t piss off Sizzla.
