    NBA Pass & NFL Pass Offer Free Services Through April 22nd

    The NBA Pass and NFL Pass have announced that they will offer free services during this hiatus as a result of coronavirus. Both of these streaming services have offered free subscriptions for over a month, ending on April 22nd. Hopefully, things will have calmed down by then in terms of the spread of the virus.

    Several things have been suspended in reaction to coronavirus, including schools, major sports organizations, and many jobs. It feels odd that there are no types of sporting events taking place at the moment. Some more serious things that are affected by this lack of play include people not receiving employment or pay.

    Check out this previous HypeFresh article for information on current NBA players and coaches that have stepped to help pay NBA employees. Another less serious effect of separate sports leagues being suspended is the lack of entertainment. The article also discusses some possible alternatives to watching live sports during this time.

    Although watching re-runs of sports games was mentioned in the post, there was no talk of the free NFL Pass and NBA Pass during the upcoming month. The NBA Pass offers replays of match-ups from the 2019-20 seasons as well as some classic games.

    The NFL Pass offers every game from the regular season and playoffs over the last 11 seasons. Along with this, the NFL Pass provides access to their original programs “Hardknocks”, “A Football Life”, and the NFL’s “All-22” footage. “Hardknocks” is a fun and in-depth show that looks into a particular NFL team during pre-season each year. Whereas the NFL’s “All-22” footage offers camera angles that teams and players use to break down film.

    Final Thoughts

    No one likes to see the suspension of sports. Still, it is better to be safe than sorry. Especially when players throughout leagues, such as Kevin Durant, and others have already tested positive for the virus.

    During this time of social distancing and hiatus from sports, one still has to find ways to stay entertained. Thankfully there are options such as free streaming of the NFL Pass and NBA Pass, where one can watch re-runs of several recent and classic match-ups.

    DeAndre Hopkins Leaves Houston

    NFL free agency is already off to a big start. Tom Brady is likely to sign with the Buccaneers after twenty years in New England. Another big surprise that came today (3/18/21) was DeAndre Hopkins being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

    Hopkins will be able to hold it down at the number one spot for Arizona. It will be fun to see the Cardinals’ young QB Kyle Murray have great options to throw to with WRs DeAndre Hopkins and veteran Larry Fitzgerald.

    The Houston Texans traded DeAndre Hopkins along with a fourth-round pick to the Cardinals in exchange for RB David Johnson as well as a second and fourth-round pick. Arizona got a steal with this trade. They received one of the best receivers in the league for a low cost.

    Reasons the Trade Went Down

    One might wonder why the Texans would give up such a talented receiver. But things are not always that simple when it comes to the NFL. There were likely a few reasons why Hopkins was traded to Arizona.

    Disputes over a contract are likely the leading cause for Hopkins being traded. ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that sources told her DeAndre had wanted around $18-$20 million per year. It would seem Houston was not willing to dish out that type of money, whereas Arizona was more than willing to pull the trigger on that offer. Hopkins is a top receiver, yet ten other wideouts are being paid more than him, so he is due for a raise.

    Irvin Claims Coach O’Brien Made Inappropriate Comments

    Dallas Cowboys’ receiver Michael Irvin has claimed that Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien held a meeting before trading DeAndre. Irvin reports that O’Brien started by saying that the last time he held a conference like this was with Aaron Hernandez.

    DeAndre Hopkins was quick to comment on the claims made by Irvin. It is clear that he has love for his old team and doesn’t seem to have a problem with O’Brien. Apparently, other comments were made, such as the fact that Hopkins has children with multiple women. Who knows how accurate the statements made by Michael Irvin are though.

    Final Thoughts

    DeAndre Hopkins seems to have no bad blood with his old team or Bill O’Brien. Still, it is surprising to see Houston give up such an offensive talent. I do not believe this was the best move by the Texans, but it will be fun to see Hopkins playing for a new team.

    Amid all the coronavirus hysteria, some people are taking the time to start rumors about celebrities. Oprah was the latest celebrity to be a target of Qanon. A group of individuals who spread outlandish conspiracy theories about celebs.

    The latest theory was that one of Winfrey’s was apart of a police raid. Furthermore, not only was there a raid, but there was also Oprahs arrest.

    After trending for some time of social media sites, Winfrey decided to respond via her twitter account.

    The Oprah Winfrey isn’t the only rumors swirling around during this time.

    Qanon also started a rumor the Coronavirus positive Tom Hanks was arrested for Pedophilia. These claims are untrue as Hanks and Wife Rita Wilson are still recovering from their coronavirus diagnosis in Australia.

    With the Coronavirus shutting down the world. It easy to see why people are finding immature ways to fill their time. However, the seriousness of the Coronavirus is a real issue. The economic effects of the virus are being felt all over the world, with no apparent relief in sight. Hopefully, the world can bounce back without any further delays.

    Six Super Bowl wins, and two decades later, Tom Brady has finally decided to end his run with the Patriots. Earlier today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington both announced that veteran QB Tom Brady would likely be signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    Brady’s potential signing destination has been widely discussed during the off-season. Although there had been talks of where Brady might resign, I had expected him to stay in New England. Sources say Brady was looking to sign for more money then the Patriots were willing to offer.

    NBA Star Kevin Durant Tests Positive For COVID-19

    Durant states that he feels fine after testing positive for coronavirus.

    The coronavirus is becoming a terror for the NBA and the whole world. The Associated Press reported earlier, that 4 players on the Brooklyn Nets have tested positive for COVID-19. One of those players is former league MVP and 2 time Finals MVP, Kevin Durant. Durant is recovering from an achilles injury, therefore, he will not play a game this season.

     

    The Nets released a statement that says of the four players that tested positive for COVID-19, only one of the players were showing symptoms of the sickness. Durant was one of the players that did not show any symptoms.

    NBA vs Coronavirus

    Kevin Durant is not the first NBA Star to test positive for the coronavirus. The NBA suspended play indefinitely when Rudy Gobert first tested positive for COVID-19 on March 12, 2020. Days later news broke that his All-Star teammate, Donovan Mitchell also tested positive. Detroit Pistons forward Christian Woods have also tested positive for coronavirus. None of these players claim to have shown symptoms when they tested positive.

    The World Health Organization has been keeping track of all the reported cases of Coronavirus across the world. The amount of confirmed cases is under 185,000 and there are over 7,500 deaths. In the United States, the amount of confirmed cases is over 3,500 and a total of 58 deaths. The World Health Organization announced that COVID-19 has a global mortality rate of 3.4%, and most of the deaths reported are people of the age 60 years or older.

    We wish all that were affected by the coronavirus a healthy recovery.

    Lil Uzi is under fire as the cover art for rapper’s hit new song “That Way” off his new, and now No. album Eternal Atake maybe stole
    .A Korean artist who goes by hugeriver8 on social media took to his Instagram timeline to accuse the rapper of swiping the idea for his song’s cover art from a painting he previously made years ago. In his post, the artist placed both pieces of art side by side. Along with venting his thoughts and frustrations about where and how Uzi got the idea.

    “I’m really upset that I have to write this article. I saw Lil Uzi Vert’s latest album cover and it looks very similar to my painting. It’s okay to use it for profile pictures or non-commercial purposes, but anything else is not allowed. I feel embarrassed and don’t want to let this slide,” the artist expressed in an Instagram post.

    Later, Lil Uzi himself responded to the accusation in the comments.

    “Hey, I’m not a mean person or a thief. I get inspired a lot,” Uzi wrote. “If you want money, I’ll have my team reach out and compensate you. Signed… Baby Pluto. P.S. You’re a great artist.”

    The similarities in the two pieces are uncanny and you can clearly see the influence from the original on Lil Uzi’s cover art. However, while many would believe the art was copied, it is nice to see that Lil Uzi himself has reached out to the artist and wants to compensate in some way.

    The End of An Era

    Even if you are not a fan of the NFL, everyone has heard the name Tom Brady. During his career with the New England Patriots, Brady has Earned Six Super Bowl rings as their quarterback. He is one of the greatest quarterbacks to have ever set foot on the field. But his time with the Patriots has come to an end. On Tuesday, March 17th Brady took to twitter to announce his departure from the New England Patriots after playing on the team for the past twenty years.

    As of Wednesday, March 18th, Tom Brady will officially be a free agent. Which his track records as an NFL player, it will not be hard for Brady to find a new team to build another legacy with.     Coronavirus Postpones NBA, NHL, and More

    Within the past couple of weeks, several steps have been taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. The virus has stoped major sports organizations throughout the United States. These include the NBA, NHL, MLB, and many more.

    It is essential to take the right steps to curtail the virus. Still, it has been wild to see the range of things that it has gone to effect. Hopefully, there will be an effort made to seek some alternative that would allow for employees of the various leagues to receive employment or pay.

    The effort to Pay Out-of-Work Employees

    There have already been a few people throughout the NBA that have helped this cause. Dallas Mavericks head-coach Mark Cuban spoke of possible opportunities for employees to receive pay for volunteer work. NBA stars, Zion Williamson and Giannis Antetokounmpo, donated money to help pay for their team’s employees’ salaries during the suspension of the NBA.

    It would be nice to see other players and especially team owners who have the money throughout the NBA and other leagues, take note of these acts and follow suit. Although not as serious of a topic, it is still pretty unfortunate to have a minimal amount of sports to watch at the moment.

    This past weekend the UFC held fights in Brazil with no fans. This received criticism, and as a result, the next three events of the UFC have been postponed indefinitely. The next event for the UFC is now scheduled for nearly a month from now on April 19th.

    If you are still interested in watching sports, then you are in luck because there are a few options. There are mainly soccer games, as well as few rugby games taking place throughout the upcoming week. Soccer leagues that have upcoming games are in areas such as Turkey, Russia, and Argentina.

    Other Options

    If you are craving some sports to watch, ESPN will be streaming replays of games all of tomorrow. There will be a range of sports covered, including the MLB, college hoops, Soccer, the XFL, and many more. It’s nothing new, but watching sports is a decent option for something to do while on lockdown when dealing with Coronavirus.

    Other sports-related options to get you by during this time include watching sports-related films, documentaries, or TV shows. Some possible ideas for classic sports movies to watch are Slap Shot Money Ball and Miracle. One of the top documentary series out there that you should definitely watch if you haven’t or even if you have is 30 for 30.

    Some weirder alternatives if you are a sports fan or are in one of the states where sports gambling is legal are horse races. Betting on these races is offered on websites such as FanDuel. Along with this, ESPN had WWE listed under sporting events that they were streaming tonight.

    Coronavirus is an unfortunate situation to deal with, but hopefully, we can get past this problem sooner rather than later. It is nice to see players and coaches beginning to help to provide pay for employees during these times, and hopefully, the trend can continue.

    While Safety is the primary concern at the moment. It is always fun to attend a game, throw on one to watch, or be a fan of sports in general. Along with this, I’m sure athletes throughout the country and the world alike are sad to see this postponement, but hopefully, things will change soon.

    Actor Indris Elba announced that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

    British actor Idris Elba announced that he has tested positive for Coronavirus but that he feels “Ok.”

    The Hobbs and Shaw star is on self-quarantine along with his wife after his test result came back positive Monday morning.

    Elba shared a video on Twitter, stating his isolation since Friday.

    This came after learning he had come in contact with another person who tested positive for COVID-19.

    The actor encouraged his fans to be “diligent about handwashing” because some people, like him, show no symptoms of the virus. He also used the video to remind us that now more than ever do we need to stick together, stating:  “We live in a divided world right now…but now is a time for solidarity. This time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected.”

    Idris Elba is the latest celebrity to test positive for Coronavirus. Just last week, Tom Hanks and Wife Rita Wilson both tested positive while shooting a film in Australia. Hanks shared an update that both he and Rita are doing ok. However, they are keeping themselves isolated to halt the virus spreading.

    The entire world is trying to grapple with the reality of this global pandemic. Schools, Businesses, and whole cities are shutting down, and the effects are being felt. The stock market has been a see-saw of action this last week as investors try to make sense of whats going on.  Furthermore, the end may be further away than we think. Some scientists are proposing a global shutdown of up to 8 weeks.

    About Burna Boy

    Burna Boy was born in Port Harcourt City and started producing music when he was ten years old. After graduating from school, Burna relocated to London for university. After two years, he dropped out and moved back to Nigeria to pursue his passion. A creative by the name of LeriQ allocated studio space for Burna to record and produce. His father always listened to dancehall and reggae music, an early influence and integral part of his musical style. Burna’s grandfather managed Fela Kuti for the first 15 years of his career, a relationship that would come to shape Burna’s sound and his understanding of himself as an artist that represents Nigeria, and more broadly Africa, to the world. Burna Boy classifies his own music as Afrofusion, a genre he coined.
