Australian lofi producer pastels have teamed up with Seattle-based singer Jessica Domingo to release their latest single, “Could’ve Been U.” With its intoxicating vocals and sensual mood, the track offers a heartfelt reflection on a past relationship and the process of moving on.
“Could’ve Been U” has already been gaining attention, with the track being added to Spotify’s New Music Friday (AU/NZ) playlist, as well as the “R&B Connect” and “Date Night” editorials.
Describing the collaboration, pastels (real name Annie Bui) said: “Working with Jessica was an amazing experience. She has an incredible voice, and together we were able to create something that reflects the emotions we wanted to convey.”
Domingo added: “This song is about looking back on a relationship that didn’t work out and realizing that maybe it wasn’t meant to be. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but ultimately it’s about accepting the past and moving forward.”
With its dreamy production and heartfelt lyrics, “Could’ve Been U” is set to be a hit among fans of both pastels and Jessica Domingo. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms.
