Kanye speaks on the creation of the ‘Like That’ (Remix)

Out of nowhere, Kanye West — or Ye, as he’s also known — has resumed his rivalry with Drake by releasing a surprise diss track. This time, Ye skipped the official remix route and released an unauthorized remix of Future and Metro Boomin’s latest hit, “Like That.” This was not your regular remix; this was a no-holds-barred assault on Drake.

Ye says the creation felt spontaneous. He alleges that Future summoned him to the studio, and they worked on the song together, each adding his unique spice to the mix. They also flew out the London production crew The Hooligans to beef it up. The interview suggests that the energy in the studio was highly charged, and they were united in shooting at Drake.

Even the lyrics, however, once again target Drake’s recent viral contract with Universal Music Group. He reflects heavily on Drake “serving the master” and whether the Canadian artist is a beneficiary of UMG, implying that Drake sold his fans for the deal. For good measure, Ye insults his friend with a nickname “Rich Baby Daddy”. It becomes very tempting to imagine that Ye was referencing Drake’s former hit “For All The Dogs.”

Notably, the “Like That” remix is not found on common streaming services such as Spotify or Apple Music . On the contrary, listeners who wish to experience the diss track need to buy it from Kanye’s Yeezy website.

With this new surprise, one can only imagine how Drake will react. Will he keep silent, or is the rap enmity between the two musical juggernauts far from dead?
