In a recent Instagram post, Grande wrote:
“I know everyone is antsy and excited for the next single (so am I — literally typing this to you while working on …a something…) but I appreciate your patience, allowing ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ to continue doing her thing. I promise, I’ll do my best to make it worth the wait.“
“We Can’t Be Friends” is the second single from Grande’s seventh album, Eternal Sunshine, which recently debuted on the Billboard 200 chart. The song soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-March, Only proving that Grande is The music industry’s strength can not be underestimated.
The pop superstar posted a black-and-white video on Instagram of her putting together the first two melody passes of “We Can’t Be Friends”—with the help of co-writer and producer Max Martin. The footage is accompanied by the first voicenote text Grande sent to songwriter Ilya Salmanzadeh, not long after he delivered her the original beat. Grande, wrote, “this song means so much to me, and I can’t tell u how much I love u for how much u love it.”
Grande’s mother, Joan Grande as her brother, Frankie, have also been very supportive of her work. In fact, Joan comments on her Instagram post saying,
