Set in the 1950s, “Vought Rising” promises to be an interesting dive into the early days of Vought Corporation—that shady mega-corp that fans just love to hate. The series will give a close look at the very beginning of the company’s dark doings and the backstories of two lead characters from the original series: Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who memorably pulled off playing Soldier Boy and Stormfront in “The Boys,” will return to their roles. Not only will they act but also be stepping behind the scenes as producers. Their involvement will surely bring some familiar flair into the new series to make sure it retains the same dark and twisted charm as the original.
“Vought Rising” will be set in an era before the events of “The Boys,” taking us back to post-World War II America. A new series has been called a “twisted murder mystery” and promises to reveal the dark origins of Vought, the company behind the infamous controversial superheroes.
It’s going to follow, on one strand of storylines, the early exploits of Soldier Boy—the very first American superhero, who didn’t age—created by Frederick Vought during World War II. Alongside will be Stormfront, the first successful test subject for Compound V—whatever that mysterious substance happens to be that gives old superheroes their powers.
One of the former executive producers on “The Boys,” Paul Grellong, will be promoted to showrunner on “Vought Rising.” With a background from “The Boys,” Grellong is well-positioned to make an engaging storyline and stay consistent in style with its successor series.
It is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film. The series has roped in a strong team behind its back. Thus, the creative process assures to bring forth acute drama and biting satire that the viewers have grown to expect from it.
Unlike the earlier proposed spin-offs, like “Gen V” and “The Boys Presents: Diabolical,” both of which worked different takes for this universe, “Vought Rising” focuses on corporate intrigue and moral ambiguity in nascent Vought. The prequel will define the corporate machinations that shaped today’s superhero world, thus offering fans an awareness of who actually stands behind the curtains.
It reconsiders motivations and relationships between characters, commercialization of superpowers, and the kinds of ethical dilemmas this sets for people involved in the superhero industry. Now, be prepared for intrigue, power struggle, and social commentary—much as “The Boys” is.
As “The Boys” lines up its fifth and final season, “Vought Rising” is about to add another layer of depth into the franchise. With their prequel diving deeper into Vought’s origins and those running it, the show will begin further filling out the story told in “The Boys” and give fans more to munch on.
With Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprising their fan-favorite roles, be assured that “Vought Rising” will be one not to miss, provided the same boat captain is at the helm: Paul Grellong. Saddle up anyway and tie tight as you continue revisiting the dark, twisted world of “The Boys” for another excellent mystery-peeking thrill into the secret areas Vought holds in the shadows.
