Nike is diving deep into the Grand Line. The sportswear giant has officially locked in its first major collaboration with the One Piece universe, rolling out a footwear and apparel collection that turns the manga’s legendary Devil Fruits into wearable heat.
Three reworked Air Max Plus sneakers form the centerpiece. Each pair gets a completely new upper exclusive to the collab, complete with custom TPU texturing and a Nike-branded Jolly Roger on the tongue. The Gomu Gomu no Mi colorway (style code IR0968-500) arrives in Space Purple, Atomic Green, Purple Venom and supporting tones that nod to Luffy’s rubber powers. The Mera Mera no Mi (IW1283-800) burns in Brilliant Orange, Vibrant Yellow and Solar Flare shades tied to Ace and Sabo’s flame abilities. The Ope Ope no Mi (IW1282-600) takes a cooler lane with Very Berry, Jade Aura and Fortress Green, channeling Trafalgar Law’s surgical ROOM technique.
Nick Remlinger, Nike’s GM of Energy Gaming, put it this way: “We were inspired by the superhuman abilities that are unleashed when One Piece characters eat the Devil Fruits, much like the feeling an athlete has when they put on a pair of Nikes. We then started reimagining the beloved Air Max Plus in a way that fans of the silhouette have never seen before. As we bring this collection to life, there are even more surprises coming — just like any great adventure.”
The apparel side keeps the story going. Matching short-sleeve jerseys pull from Nike’s archive and line up with each fruit theme. Graphic T-shirts mix classic Nike ad layouts with actual manga panels and Luffy’s own hand-drawn Jolly Roger. A specialized vest references the Devil Fruit curse that leaves users unable to swim. Caps round it out.

Release is staggered and regional. A Tokyo pop-up called Dr. B’s Research Lab opens September 4-6 with lottery entry. Select retailers across Asia, Mexico and elsewhere get the Mera Mera pair starting September 12. The Ope Ope hits limited U.S. and European shops on September 19. The big global moment lands September 25 on SNKRS, where the Gomu Gomu sneakers and select apparel go wide, with pre-order windows in the U.S., Japan and parts of Europe.
Retail sits at $180 in most markets and ¥27,500 in Japan. Expect the usual scramble. One Piece already moves culture far beyond anime circles, and pairing it with one of Nike’s most durable silhouettes is the kind of crossover that tends to move fast once the first pairs hit the ground.
