Demi Lovato’s Friend Dies After Battle With Addiction

Demi Lovato is a strong one!

Demi Lovato is mourning the death of her friend Thomas, who died after a battle with addiction.

Lovato, who has been open about her own struggles with substance abuse and nearly died after a drug overdose last year, paid tribute to Thomas on her Instagram stories, saying she was “devastated” by the loss.

“Devastated. Please hold your loved ones tight. Tell them they are special and that you love them,” she captioned a picture of Thomas.

“Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo.”

In a follow-up post, Demi Lovato detailed the dangers of addiction.

“Addiction is NO joke..heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease,” Demi Lovato wrote. “I’m crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know it’s okay to ask for help.”

Lovato almost lost her battle to addiction when she suffered a near-fatal overdose last year. She was in the hospital for more than a week and then checked into a long-term rehab facility.

She celebrated six months of sobriety in January.
