Are you ready for more blood, guts, and glory? The Boys, the hit show that takes a twisted look at the world of superheroes, is coming back for a fifth season! And guess what? The filming is set to start in just a few weeks!
That’s right, the production team is heading to Toronto, Canada, where they will shoot the new episodes from April to August 2024. While we don’t have an official release date yet, we can expect Amazon to follow its usual pattern and drop the new season sometime in 2025. So make a note of this date and keep an eye out for further updates!
But before we get to Season 5, we still have Season 4 to look forward to. The fourth season, which will premiere later this year, will pick up soon after the events of the Gen V finale, where we saw some shocking revelations and cliffhangers. What will happen to our favorite characters, both good and evil? How will they deal with the consequences of their actions? And what new threats will they face?
Speaking of new threats, did you know that The Boys is expanding its universe with two spin-off shows? One of them is a Mexico-based series that will explore the dark side of the superhero industry in Latin America. The other one is the successful Gen V spin-off, which focuses on a group of young Supes who rebel against the corrupt system. Both of these shows will add more depth and diversity to the world of The Boys, and we can’t wait to see them!
But let’s get back to the main attraction: Season 5. And boy, do we have some juicy news for you. You know Billy Butcher, right? The leader of the Boys, the ruthless vigilante, the man who hates Supes with a passion. Especially Homelander, the most powerful and most evil Supe of them all. Butcher has been on a mission to take down Homelander and avenge his wife, who was raped and killed by him.
Or so he thought.
Because in a shocking twist, we learned that Homelander was not the real culprit. It was Black Noir, his mysterious teammate, who had been impersonating him and framing him for his crimes. Homelander, who had been manipulated by his former lover and boss, Madelyn Stillwell, was not aware of his actions.
But does that make Homelander innocent? Not quite. He is still a violent, narcissistic, and sociopathic Supe who has done many horrible things. But does that make Butcher justified? Not at all. Because Butcher, who learned the truth, did not stop his crusade. He continued to pursue Homelander and commit heinous acts, even killing innocent people along the way.
And that’s where Season 5 will take us: to a dark and twisted place where the line between hero and villain is blurred beyond recognition. Where Butcher, who once fought for justice, becomes a monster. Where Homelander, who once ruled with fear, becomes a victim. Where the audience, who once rooted for the Boys, becomes conflicted.
Who is the real villain of The Boys? Is it Homelander, the Supe, who was corrupted by external forces? Or is it Butcher, the human who chose to embrace his inner demons? That’s the question that Season 5 will ask us, and we may not like the answer.
But we will love the show.
