Born in Ecatepec, Mexico. Tenoch Huerta is attracting fans all around right after his inclusion in Wakanda. In the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever the role of ‘Namor’ which is crucial for the Marvel Universe.
Many Black Panther fans crowded movie theaters for the awaited sequel. And a tribute to the iconic African superhero, embodied by the late Chadwick Boseman.
Who Is ‘Namor’?
With the arrival of Tenoch Huerta in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever interpreting this character in which has his own story. In the beginning, Namor was thought to be a hero within Marvel Comics. But with time passing his presence is between the good and bad. All with the purpose of saving the seas and Atlantis.
Even the character ‘Namor’ appeared in the 1962 volume 14 of the Fantastic Four, where he fought the quartet of superheroes. After that Namor became a ally to scientists.
The film successfully tries to stay true to inclusion. Meaning that even with Tenoch Huerta being from indigenous heritage. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever uses Huerta as a mutant leader from a kingdom based on Mayan and Aztec influences. Thriving beneath the ocean for centuries.
Moreover, Namor and the Talokan people use a real indigenous language, Yucatec Mayan. It’s one of the many variants of languages used in the Mayan vocabulary. Yucatec Mayan is still used in today’s standards, over 800,000 people around Latin American and the U.S use it.
Tenoch Huerta has also appeared in roles on the Netflix series ‘Narcos: Mexico” as well as the movie ‘The Forever Purge‘. He told NBC News the new film is a big step in representation of Latino culture.
“In Latin America, especially Mexico, we have a lack of representation”, said Huerta. Also mentioning the colorization movie productions note when showing Latino countries especially Mexico, “like a Scandinavian country”.
On screen Tenoch Huerta plays one of the oldest character in the Marvel cinematic universe. A mutant with pointy ears and super-human strength. He’s other rival can be known as Thor.
