Emerging hip-hop artist RonTerrance Rishad recently released a hit single titled “Double R Freestyle,” which brings his artistic skills to the spotlight.
“Double R Freestyle” is a song balanced with a catchy hook and simplistic lyrics, but still lyrical. Very retro and throwback while still having that bounce for the car, kickbacks, and everything else utilized by Rishad’s outstanding lyrical wordflow, which was well thought out and delivered gracefully.
RonTerrance Rishad chatted with us and answered our unique questions. Check it out below.
HYPEFRESH: Let’s start by introducing ourselves. You know the basics, like name, age, and where you’re from, as much or little as you’re comfortable sharing.
RonTerrance: My name is RonTerrance Rishad, 31 years old and from Monroe, Louisiana. I was 7, but I did play around with writing poems in my first raps after hearing 2pac when I was six (true story). The real hip-hop guy fell in love with rap music the first time I heard Jay-Z’s hard knock life ghetto anthem.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Know That”?
RonTerrance: “Double R Freestyle” was a significant release for me. It was when I decided to change my artist name from “Rishad Speaks” to RonTerrance Rishad, signifying me being myself and rapping more about what I feel is real to me and real hip hop to me and letting go of “what’s supposed to be” and just being if that makes sense.
That’s what being an artist is about expressing your truth from that sudden spark of inspiration that burns until you figure out exactly how to get it out of you. The beauty about it is life, so you’ll always have that feeling, whether writing, freestyle, stretching, painting, etc., all is a form of artistry to get that creativity out.
