Rebecka Hoffman had a conversation with us and responded to our three unique Questions. Take a look below.
HYPEFRESH: Let’s begin by introducing ourselves. You know the essentials, like your name, age, and where you’re from, as much or as little as you’re comfortable sharing.
Rebecka Hoffman: My name is Rebecka, but everyone calls me Beck, 29. I’m from Elizabeth, New Jersey, and I live in Portland, Oregon. I worked on I’ll Be Home for Christmas with a friend I grew up with.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”?
Rebecka Hoffman: “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” is my experience of having my sister dealing with substance abuse disorder and not having her around for the holidays most of my life.
My whole goal was to create a rendition of a familiar holiday song that didn’t fully feel like that happy, cheerful holiday music we are all used to but still kept with the holiday theme. Meaning anyone can find relatability in this music whether they are delighted, grieving, making memories in the car or at a restaurant, sharing new music with friends, or want some alternative listening to what is widely broadcasted.
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
Rebecka Hoffman: What I like most about being a music artist is the ability to translate my life into a song, share a message through a melody that anyone can listen to, and even create meaning. Being an artist means you can reach anybody, regardless of language, location, or background. Art is freedom.
