It’s unbelievable not to get entangled with the mouthwatering melody of the songwriter and producer Gemïny with his recently released single “Hesitation.” The sensitivity and swing of the song show a dance single very well done, like everything that comes from this talented artist. He puts his personal touch giving his personality and showing all his talent.
Gemïny recently had a conversation with us and answered three unique questions. Take a look below.
HYPEFRESH: Let’s begin by introducing ourselves. Share the essentials like your name, age, and where you’re from, as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
Gemïny: I’m Asaaju Wesley, better known as Gemïny. I’m 22 and originally from Raleigh, NC. Although growing up, I lived in many different states and cities and even spent a few years in Kenya, I still call North Cackalakey home (for better or worse, I guess). I strongly support mental health and I’m a big advocate for NAMI. It has played a major role in shaping my musical journey from a young age.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Hesitation”?
Gemïny: “Hesitation” is from my forthcoming Album “Victoria’s Secret,” which is focused on a very toxic and, well, IDK if I can necessarily call it abusive, but it was an exciting situation. I learned a lot from it, but the album plans to walk through all caveats of that situation and take responsibility for my role in negativity and the outcome.
With “Hesitation” specifically, I spoke on those early stages of relationships that everyone can resonate with. Speaking on the cupcake stage, as I call it when the butterflies transform into an angsty teen spirit featuring juvenile attempts to impress and that conflicting feeling of excitement and fear that comes with trying to realize those dreams.
Funny enough, “Hesitation” brings back a specific memory of this fight I got into at a house party over this girl (embarrassing, I know). But that encapsulates the feeling I wanted to capture in the song. That duality of one-second emotion on top of the world with this person and the subsequent questioning of where you stand and how crazy that idea can make you feel.
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
Gemïny: My favorite part of being an artist is the entertainment aspect of it all. Don’t get me wrong, I love to sing and could play the piano all day but moving around and bringing on a real presence on and off the stage is my favorite part. I think of my life as a series of episodes, and it’s an idea I want to play with as I continue to release music.
But I love how performing gives me that ability to re-live those experiences and bring out the raw emotions from all of it to bring an adventure to the fans, and that feeling is unparalleled.
