Fritz Hager, the indie-rock/pop artist, and American Idol star, has released his new single, “Two Step.” This dynamic pop anthem is a satirical commentary on male fantasy mixed with Katy Perry-level hooks and bossa nova highlights. The track features Fritz’s signature raspy alto, percussive guitar chords, and humorous narrative about sexual blunders, making it a catchy critique about fantasy versus reality.
Co-written with Lucky West, “Two Step” follows Hager’s January single “Caroline” and tells a fun, happy-go-lucky love story. However, the lyrics of the track are a satirical observation of male fantasy and the expectations of love due to its portrayal in the media.
Hager, a self-proclaimed “indie guy” and a rock n’ roll maverick, brings sincerity and escapism into his music. The Texan artist began writing in the sixth grade, influenced by his heroes such as AC/DC, The Killers, Oasis, Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and John Mayer. After dropping out of college, he took a mental health hiatus, which became a period of growth and creativity. Hager auditioned for American Idol during the pandemic, where he became a fan favorite and peaked in the Top 5.
“Two Step” is now available on all digital platforms.
