    Hootie & the Blowfish’s Darius Rucker Busted for Drugs: What We Know (Feb 2024 Update)

    Darius Rucker, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish, was arrested on February 1st, 2024. The arrest took place in Williamson County, Tennessee. Rucker was booked on three separate misdemeanor charges, which were two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state’s vehicle registration law. He was released the same day after posting a $10,500 bond. Mark Puryear, attorney for Rucker, stated that the singer,

    “is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges”.

    Even though Rucker was arrested, he still planned to perform his show at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on February 21. He also has more shows scheduled at the same venue on February 6 and March 12. In addition to his solo career, Rucker is set to reunite with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates for their 2024 “Summer Camp With Trucks Tour.

    The tour will kick off on May 30 in Dallas, Texas, and across the U.S. before wrapping things up on September 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Rucker became famous as the frontman and guitarist of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. He started the band in 1986 at the University of South Carolina. The band released five albums with Rucker and had six hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Rucker wrote most of the songs with the other band members.

    He released his first solo album, an R&B record called Back to Then 2002. Six years later, he signed with Capitol Nashville as a country singer and released his second album, Learn to Live, in 2008. His third album, Charleston, SC 1966, came out on October 12, 2010. His fourth album, True Believers, became number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. His first country Christmas album, Home for the Holidays, reached number 31 on the US Billboard 200. His sixth album, Southern Style, reached number 6 on the US Billboard 200.

    Hootie & the Blowfish’s impact as an American rock band is undeniable, with their achievements, Grammy Awards, and the enduring success of their debut album, Cracked Rear View (1994). The trio of hit singles: “Hold My Hand” (1994), “Let Her Cry” (1994), and “Only Wanna Be with You” (1995) continue to resonate with fans around the world.
