All things pop culture will be present next month at “Kentucky’s best and truest comic con featuring fandoms of multiple genres,” according to event organizers.

LouisvilleCon, set for April 8, will bring the opportunity for Louisville residents to check out vendors catering to every kind of entertainment phenomenon, including comic books, toys, sports, anime, wrestling and fantasy. There will also be “a roster of comic industry professionals and fandom-related celebrities” at Triple Crown Pavilion to interact with fans, the event’s website said.

Some of the celebrity guests expected include Pokémon actor Jay Goede, the voice behind Mewtwo; Chuck Huber, who voiced characters on Dragon Ball Z and My Hero Academia; and Kentucky’s own Shawn Thacker, who played Logan, an Eagle Fang Karate student, on Cobra Kai.

The event will provide plenty of opportunities for game enthusiasts to play their hearts out and maybe even win a cash prize for first place in a Super Smash Bros. tournament. The competition will have a $20 buy-in beginning at 1 p.m., but those who want to sharpen up their skills can play for free from 10 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., according to the website. There will also be a first-come, first-served tabletop game room with classic board games like Monopoly, Clue and Jenga.

Vendors will set up with comic books, jewelry, collectibles, clothes, local art and more, the website said. There will also be a cosplay contest with free registration that starts at 4 p.m. Awards will be given for four categories, and costumes may be bought or handmade. Cosplayers Sav Marie and Merdi Brooke will be there to join the action.

Tickets for LouisvilleCon are available from $20 for general admission up to $250 for a “golden ticket” that gets guests a 30-minute head start on the crowd, front-of-the-line status to meet celebs, a rare comic book and photo opportunities. Tickets can be purchased online or with cash at the registration table on the day of the show, and kids under 11 get in for free.
