    Interviewers with inflated egos may revel in the chance to wield what small amount of power they’ve been given, with these power trips often taking their toll on the psyche of candidates. 

    That’s what this young candidate experienced while seeking her first job in her field after graduating from university. She was made to go through six rounds of interviews, meeting with the CEO of the company for the sixth. Off the bat, the CEO was rude and dismissive, but that proved to be not even the worst of it. Throughout the interview, he repeatedly ignored her, playing with his phone while she was speaking and spending the majority of his time speaking, tearing her apart.

    Readers shared their sympathies and advice in the comments, also pointing out that the CEO might have been using a technique called “pressure testing.” Regardless, commenters seemed to agree that she had dodged a massive bullet and should move on with her job search.
