American rapper Abraham Westlund released his newest single, “Need Someone.” Released on June 11th, the single brings a delicious combination of a soft and quiet melody with strong lyrics, which provides a comfortable sensation to the ears.
“Need Someone” is a song with well-arranged rhymes, good vocal work, and a catchy beat full of good alternative hip-hop. That hip-hop you enjoy is mixed with a modern sound, with a good melody and proper instrumental arrangements, bringing a distinct sound body to the technique. HYPEFRESH: Let’s start by introducing ourselves. You know the basics, like your name, age, and where you’re from; you can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
Abraham Westlund: My name is Abraham Westlund, and I am a 23-year-old singer and R&B artist. I am from Minnesota, specifically the Twin Cities area. I’ve been interested in music since I was a child, and my musical abilities have grown as I’ve gotten older. I strive to reach my audience on a deeper level with my music, and I aim to show something different in my music to every person who listens. Not all experiences are the same.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Need Someone”?
Abraham Westlund: My single, “Need Someone,” is one such song in which I aimed to reach an audience that could interpret it in various ways. The song’s premise is the classic saying that “blood is thicker than water,” but I wanted it to have a twist. We all have people we consider blood, even if they are not family. When people follow me and hear my story, they realize I was adopted at a young age, so that line may not seem to fit me, but in my ideology, blood takes many forms in the family and forms an unbreakable bond.
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
Abraham Westlund: What I love the most about music is the art of expression and the fact that the term “music” always evokes excitement.
I am also happy to use my gifts to reach out to people in the hopes of connecting with them in ways other things may not allow. I’ll never stop making music. It’s what I do, and I was made to do it.
