She took to social media to vocalize her thoughts on the staple in Black women’s hair protection.
“It took me a moment to say what I’m about to say because I want to ensure that it comes from a place of love and not judgment,” Mo’Nique shared with her one million Instagram followers. “Some of you have given me the title of auntie, and I’m grateful for that. But there are times when auntie needs to have a heartfelt conversation with her loved ones and speak the truth.”
Monique Wants You to Comb Your Hair, Leave the Bonnet
While on a trip to Jackson, Mississippi for a gig, she was floored. She couldn’t count how many “young sistas” she saw wearing “head bonnets, scarfs, slippers pajamas, [and] blankets wrapped around them” at the airport
“I’ve noticed it not only at the airport but also at the store, the mall, and other places,” Mo’Nique expressed. “When did we lose our sense of pride in how we present ourselves? When did we forget the importance of looking presentable when we step out of our homes?”
Take Pride in Keeping Yourself Up
In fact, Monique did not imply that women needed to be all dolled up. However, they should run a comb through their hair before walking out the door.
“I’m not saying you lack pride, but the way you present yourself should reflect it without needing others to inquire,” she continued. “It’s not about attracting a partner; it’s about how you represent yourself, my dear ones.”
Mo’Nique urged women to consider her message as a “friendly reminder,” expressing her intention to intervene if she encountered them “in public, at the airport, at Walmart, wearing a bonnet and slippers, looking disheveled.”
“Auntie Nikki ‘gon tap you and say, ‘Hey baby girl, show you what you’re worth, show you what you deserve.”
On his newest project, ‘Classic OG,’ JJ Finesser returns to emphasize his successes. The arts improve society’s temperament and ideals. As a result, the title of the record was coined.
The market is currently swamped with the same content and music. “Classic OG” sets itself apart by being one of a kind and delivering the most value to the market. JJ says the following about the relevance of his album:
“The 90’s Hip-Hop that I grew up listening to is going to be revered similarly to the Motown Sound as time progresses. ‘Classic OG’ is a Hip-Hop Renaissance masterpiece”
JJ Finesser completes his trilogy of studio albums with ‘Classic OG,’ which acts as maturation and coming of age for him as he clarifies what’s essential to him: Family & Growth. He showcases his own music style as an ode to the old school sounds of Hip-Hop and the growing of his craft. The talented Jerry D., mixed, mastered and produced his entire musical trilogy.
When reflecting on the curation of the album, JJ Finesser adds:
“‘Classic OG’ is a culmination of a level in my Life that began with alcoholism & homelessness. I learned that when you’re ready, the right teacher will come. I stopped drinking alcohol in 2017 & it’s one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. By detoxifying the mind, body, & soul, I’ve been able to consistently sharpen my focus & reprogram outdated thought patterns & belief systems that caused self-sabotage. My album is a representation of who I’ve become, a ‘Classic OG’.”
“Winning. It’s the only thing that matters.” – JJ Finesser
JJ Finesser describes himself as a true Hip-Hop emcee, citing A Tribe Called Quest, Static Major, Big L, and Black Star as influences. This rising rhymer is in his prime and you don’t want to miss it! Give Classic OG a spin and let us know what you think.

Battling against our friends doesn’t always have to end badly. Rappers Bow Wow and Soulja Boy have remained friends for years. With their VERZUZ battle coming up, the two seem more than eager to fight each other. Despite all the banter happening between the two, it doesn’t seem like either will lose in the end. More than likely, the two buddies will just bro it out rather than battle.
Furthermore, the two definitely cracked jokes about each other last week. Of course, the digs all came from a place of love. In particular, Bow Wow retold a story Big Drako posted about him cozying up to his new girlfriend. Interestingly enough, this new girlfriend is an old flame of Soulja Boy’s. While the situation seems awkward to everyone else, Bow Wow and Soulja Boy made it into a joke. “@souljaboy when you start kissing in person? You said only ova the [phone] #Verzuz #brodieonhisgrownman #friendlycompetition #versuz,” Bow Wow wrote in the caption. He soon added, “@timbaland me and @iamdjjus in rehearsals, big drako having wine night he not focused. SEE YOU SOON BROTHER.”
Not at all phased by the comment, Soulja Boy responded with a set of laughing emojis. Fortunately, Big Drako and Bow Wow have the type of relationship where they can bro it out over anything. That’s a solid friendship.
The Rappers Hand Each Other Their “Flowers”

It’s not often that we see rappers bro it out for the world to see. Hollywood can sometimes be a very cut-throat place. It’s not easy maintaining friendships in the spotlight. Fortunately, Big Drako and Bow Wow have managed to remain best buds for years. The two especially showed their brotherly love during a recent Instagram Live where they handed each other their “flowers.” Additionally, Bow Wow expressed how hype he was about their upcoming VERZUZ battle. At one point, he even described the upcoming battle as “Bigger Than Life.” Be sure to check out their VERZUZ battle!
Some celebrities just love to have all the attention on them. Funkmaster Flex certainly made it known that he loves the media attention. The Hot 97 host has already taken credit for stirring up beef between Meek Mill and Drake all for the “clout.” Recently, the radio host dredged up Charlamagne Tha God’s 2001 sexual assault case again. The radio host just made trouble for his fellow radio man. Given his past with chasing clout, it’s likely that the star is seeking attention again.

Hollywood can be the best place ever but its also cut-throat. Stars come and go all the time. In a worse case scenario, some stars are forgotten. Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex seems like he’s fighting to have his name in the media mill. Previously, the radio host admitted to chasing after “clout” just to return to the spotlight. Making matters worse, he’s even drudged up someone’s bad deeds for his own benefit.
Recently, Funkmaster Flex stirred up trouble for The Breakfast Club’sCharlamagne Tha God after playing a disturbing recording on his radio show. According to the audio, a mother accused the The Breakfast Club radio host of drugging and raping her daughter, Jessica Reid in 2001. Moreover, Funkmaster Flex first received word of the clip from The Shaded Room, who originally posted the video clip via Instagram.
In response to the Instagram post, Funkmaster Flex left the comment, “Cease and desist!” with a series of laughing emojis. Kind of cruel on Funk Flex’s part. Though, it’s clear that he only rehashed old wounds for his own advantage. Worse, he’s made trouble for Charlamagne Tha God.

It’s clear that Funkmaster Flex only wants to stir up controversy to support his failing career. Hard times must’ve fallen on the Hot 97 radio host. In his pursuit, however, he landed The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha Gods in a heap of trouble with the public. As mentioned before, Funkmaster Flex reminded everyone of the radio host’s sexual assault case from 2001.
Furthermore, God had been accused of raping 15-year-old Jessica Reid during the year. Though, The Breakfast Club directly spoke with police in attempts to clear his name. Instead, he admitted guilt for “providing alcohol to a minor at a party” where the incident occurred. Since then, God has successfully cleared his name with document reports proving his “DNA wasn’t found in Reid’s rap kit.” Additionally, The Shaded Room even posted a follow-up post, stating that he cleared his name. Of course, Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex failed to mention that part. He’s nothing but trouble.
Atlanta rising superstar Slimelife Shawty has been going up the last few years. Gaining the attention of Young Thug, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and more, he is up next to blow on the music scene. The southern rapper returns to the scene with a fire new visual for his “Baby Boy” single.
Slimelife Shawty is honing his skills in expressing his emotions through his music. Demonstrating his talent for creating heartfelt trap songs once more, Slimelife presents “Baby Boy,” his latest music video. With powerful lyrics and genuine emotion in his voice, the Atlanta artist confronts his struggles while acknowledging his remarkable achievements against adversity: “I’m aware I’m in a difficult situation. Despite what others may say, I ventured into uncharted territories.”
With heartfelt lyrics and a melodic flow over an ATL Jacob-produced beat, this young emcee pours his pain into every word. The music video, directed by ShotByWolf, showcases Slimelife counting his wealth and contemplating his life’s challenges in empty parking lots and desolate apartment stairwells. “Baby Boy” follows his previous releases, including the music video for “No Brakes.”
In preparation for his upcoming project Better Livin, Slimelife Shawty has been steadily gaining recognition in the rap game. He has collaborated with artists such as 42 Dugg on the “Clappers” remix and Lil Durk on “Dying 2 Hit Em.” Last year, the Alamo Records artist dropped the full-length project No Slime Left Behind, which included the popular street anthem “All Summer” (2.3M YouTube views).
Slimelife Shawty looks to continue showcasing his ever-melodic flow and unapologetic lyrics. Stay tuned for Better Livin, coming this summer via Alamo Records.
“Slimelife Shawty became a staple of Atlanta’s bubbling underground after appearing on early Lil Keed standouts like ‘Blicky Blicky’ in 2018. Since then, he’s been moving with remarkable consistency, gaining traction with anthemic songs like ‘Don’t Worry.'”

It’s one thing to admit we’re suffering. However, it’s entirely another to ask for help. Former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams encourages fans to seek help when dealing mental illness. Like so many celebrities, the singer has suffered from depression since her early teens. After receiving the help she needed, she’s making it her life’s work to assist others searching for guidance and help. Even as the month of Mental Illness Awareness comes to a close, it’s not too late to talk to someone.
Michelle Williams Asks Fans To Seek Help
via Glamour
Asking for help doesn’t come easy for people. Most either normalize their suffering or don’t educate themselves on mental illness. In a worst case scenario, some people don’t believe they have a problem to begin with. Honestly, everyone has something wrong with them mentally. Even celebrities struggle with mental illness. For instance, former Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams recently admitted that she’s struggled with depression since her early teens. After seeking help from healthcare professionals, the star sought to help others receive help.
In July 2018, Williams wrote on an Instagram that she wants to “empower people to seek help.” Furthermore, the Destiny’s Child alum firmly believes that if “you can change your mind, you change your life.” In other words, a person can accomplish a lot if they learn to change their mind.
The Singer Tells Her Story
via Yahoo News
While struggling with mental illness herself, Michelle Williams seeks to help empower those who need help the most. She’s become an advocate for mental health awareness. Not to mention, she’s brave enough to share her story of her mental illness.
During a recent interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, the star admitted she suffers from depression. Moreover, Williams explained to Roberts that she’s struggled with depression since she was 13-years-old. Though, it wasn’t until her 30s that the star received a confirmed diagnosis. “I found help when my responses—just the anger and the irritability and the bitterness—was just out of character for me,” the star told Roberts on GMA on Thursday. When asked what drove her to speak about her struggles with depression, Williams admitted that she’d run out of options. The star had no where to turn for help. Luckily, she received the guidance and understanding she needed in time.

Clap Your hands! Stomp Your Feet! Here come Your Philadelphia 76ers doing it again!!
The Philadelphia 76ers have been dominating the Washington Wizards as they claim victory in yet another game with a 132-104 final score. The Wizards have one more chance to take back the series but Philly is just too focused and strategic. By all appearances, it looks like this will be a clean sweep for the 76ers.
“M-V-P,” Embiid is on fire

Another night where @JoelEmbiid proved his case for MVP and posted a new playoff career-high.
Remarkably, Joel Embiid is still going strong. In fact, in the first 28 minutes, Embiid managed a career-high 36 points during the game against the Wizards. Moreover, It’s clear Embiid is on a high after a spectactular performance and dominance during game 3. Fortunately, It appears that his dicipline to get into better shape and focus on improving is having a positive impact on his confidence and ability to follow through. And he is expressing that confidence with on court celebrations including a wresting signature known foundly through the 90’s with D-Generation X.
Simmons has received tons of criticism for his shooting and performance in game one against the Wizards. However, it does seem that he has learned from that mistake. Consequently, Ben scored 14 points, 5 rebounds, and nine assists during game three. Simmons ability to read the coverage and set up his teammates to score has been a great asset during their series against the Wizards. That performance isn’t going unnoticed. Doc Rivers highlights his playmaking ability.

“That’s two games where Ben recognized the coverage. They changed the coverage in game one. Today, they changed the personnel on him. I thought Ben really saw that early on. WHen we saw it, we were like full steam every time.
Now, the Philadelphia 76ers are giving fans plenty to cheer about during this series. Here’s hoping that they can continue with this success. Philadelphia could use a team to rally for. And if their performance continues, fans may be able to cheer them on live as Wells Fargo will follow Citizen’s Bank Park’s lead in allowing fans back into the stadium.
Roman Quinn’s Career Plagued by Injuries; Left Achillies.
Quinn sustains injury on play to score at third.

Roman Quinn was carried off the field after an aggressive run to third. The culprit was an injury to his left achillies. Fortunately, the warrior he is, Quinn got the run in before collapsing on home plate. He is out for the rest of the season. Hopefully, it will just be this season but his options do not look good, at the moment.
A Career plagued by Injuries Including Two Achillies ruptures

But this isn’t the first time he’s been injured. Although, for Quinn it may be the most devestating. His career has been plagued with injuries. In fact, it wasn’t a matter of if he would get injured but when. Coincidentally, in 2013, his first injury of his career was rupturing his right achillies. Quinn’s speed is his prime feature and it appears it is a contributor to many of his injuries including the two achillies ruptures.
In 2016, his strained his left oblique. He injured his left elbow, in 2017. During 2018, he has tweaked his left hamstring, fractured his right foot, and sprained his right middle finger. Additionally, in 2019, his strained his right oblique and groin. In 2020, he suffered a concussion. Just prior to injurying his left achillies, in 2021, he had suffered a small laceration on his right index finger that required stiches.
Quinn’s Career Hangs in the Balance; He Gets Evaluated For Achillies Injury.
Quinn pushing himself athletically. Roman Quinn sustains achillies injury, to add to career high injuries, as he manages to score a run in the fifth inning. Out for the rest of the season. Roman Quinn’s Instagram
It seems Quinn has been unfairly unlucky in this game of baseball. Quinn’s tendency to push himself hard and run hard every play, is an indicator that his work ethic contributed to a string of injuries. Players who push the limits, often risk injury and Quinn’s pushed his career that way. Either way, Philadelphia fans wish him a speedy recovery.
Andrew McCutchen added this on his twitter account,
“Man, I feel for Quinn. I’m hurt for him to get hurt like that and still finish the play shows how bad he wants it every time he’s out there. Heal up bro.”
Quinn will be flying back to Philadelphia for an MRI but Girardi doesn’t expect any good news. Hopefully, this will not be the end of his MLB career. But, if the Phillies pass on him come abritration, his options may be few and far between given his susceptibility for injuries.
Quinn’s family; three kids. Roman Quinn sustains achillies injury, to add to career high injuries, as he manages to score a run in the fifth inning. Out for the rest of the season. Roman Quinn’s Instagram
Quinn has three young kids including a recent newborn and outside baseball, has been focusing on fatherhood. Currently, fans and press await updates. So far, Quinn is placed on the 60 day IL and has to get evaluated further.
Top 3 Phillies Updates: Zack Wheeler, Joe Girardi, & Roman Quinn.
As we approach June, here are the top 3 phillies updates.
The Phillies have been struggling as the injuries pile up with key players including Bryce Harper (Brused Wrist), JT Realmuto (Bone Bruise on left hand), Scott Kingery (Concussion), Didi Gregorious (Elbow Soreness), JoJo Romero (Tommy John), and Matt Moore (Back Spasms). Now they add Roman Quinn back on the IL for a injury on his left achillies tendon.
However, there are still some positives to look out as Zack Wheeler has done well striking out 10+ more batters in 4 consecutive games. Rhys Hoskins bat is still doing well. Yet, they still hope for a surge once fans are back in full force at Citizen’s Bank Park. Because of their struggling team, Joe Girardi has decided to take any strategic advantage he can get by saying no he will not give out injury updates on active players. Let’s hope the guys can turn it around. Taking a closer look, here are the top 3 Phillies Updates.
Top 3 Phillies Updates:
1. Zack wheeler struck out 14 batters.
Top 3 Phillies Updates: Zack Wheeler, Joe Girardi, & Roman Quinn 1. Zack Wheeler Strikes out 14 batters, a career high accomplishment. MLB | Phillies
Zack Wheeler made career history when he struck out 14 batters. The pitch that got him thre waws his 98.2 mph fastball and his slider against lefthanders. Unfortunately, the game did not end in a win. Wheeler has been great for the Phillies. In fact, his last three games had 10 or more strikeouts. He joins the elite Steve Calton and Curt Schilling as the only other Phillies to accomplish this feat.
2. Joe girardi says no to injury updates on active players
The Skipper has spoken. After playing fast and loose with information regarding Bryce Harper and alluding to the outfielder as on the roster despite his bruised wrist, Girardi has clarified his decision.
“The idea here is to win games…there are distinct advantages I could give to another club if they know everything that is going on over here.”
He says he will no longer release information on active players with injuries as it takes away the strategic advantage against other teams. So for now, he’s keeping that information close to his chest but says he has no problem discussing a player that is on the injured list.
“It’s not fair to us because it puts us at a disadvantage if the other manager knows that we can’t use someone. So if he’s on our roster, he’s available.”
3. Roman Quinn damaged his achillies, out for the season but may be career ending.
Roman Quinn is out for the season due to an achillies injury that may spark the end of his MLB career. He injured his achilies tendon in the fifth inning after agressively running to third. The outfielder managed to score the run but was seen hopping and limping to the plate before collapsing.
Top 3 Phillies Updates: Zack Wheeler, Joe Girardi, & Roman Quinn 3. Roman Quinn injures left achillies tendon, out for season and possibly end of his career. Quinn had to be carried after the field after scoring a run for the Phillies. MLB | Phillies
Quinn had to be carried off the field and will have to get an MRI of the injury to find out the severity. Nonetheless, he will no longer play this season and the Phillies may choose to let him go now that his contract is up for arbitration. This has been a long run of injuries that plagued him throughout his career.
“It doesn’t look good,” -Girardi “I don’t expect to get any good news from the MRI.”
We’ve seen fans throw themselves at their favorite artists. Though, it’s always surprising to learn entertainers have idols they look up to as well. For instance, R&B singer Jojo grew up listening to tons of Hip-Hop artists in her youth. She’s even worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Remy Ma and Wiz Khalifa. Furthermore, the “Leave (Get Out)” singer has lasted decades in the music industry. More importantly, she remains one of the most beloved R&B artists of our time. With such amazing talent, Jojo wouldn’t be the amazing singer she’s become without learning from stars like rapper Jadakiss.
Jojo’s Music Career
via Billboard
There’s no denying the power and passion behind Jojo’s voice. Arguably, she’s one of the best singers in the age of millennials. The R&B singer first entered the music scene at just 12 years old with the release of her self-titled debut album Jojo in 2004. Moreover, Jojo’s music career took off after she dropped her debut single “Leave (Get Out).” The record led her to take home several honorary awards and even go platinum.
Furthermore, the beloved singer even reinvented herself after making a recent comeback. Like fine wine, she just grows better with age. The recent release of new single “Creature of Habit” has certainly proven successful. In her two-year-long decade of a music career, Jojo has progressed to a level of artistry that most young talents fail to achieve. She’s gone from being a one-hit wonder, to one of the most respected R&B singers in the game. Guess she has Jadakiss to thank for that.

Clearly, Jojo “has the juice” as they say. She’s even achieved GOAT status in her long tenure of a music career. It makes sense, she’s learned from the best in the industry. Even at a young age, Jojo grew up listening to HipHop icons like Missy Elliot, Busta Rymes, and Biggie. Their music helped shaped her into the artist she’s today.
During a recent interview with XXL magazine, Jojo discusses her love for HipHop music. Furthermore, the 30-year-old revealed that as a young girl, her and her friends would often rap to Jadakiss on the school bus. “Jadakiss made a huge impact on me; in middle school, me and all my friends would be on the bus being like, “F*** the frail s**t.” I mean, just absolutely ridiculous, with our little backpacks and Air Force 1s on, talking about weighing coke.” Clearly, the singer learned from the best.
New celebrity couples make headlines all the time. Even old ones still make the news. Atlanta-based rapper Lil Baby may have just rekindled his romance with ex-girlfriend Jayda Cheaves. Lately, the two attended outings together and even sported matching outfits. Despite their flaky relationship, the couple seemed to have smoothed things over for the time being. We wonder how long Lil Baby and Jayda will last this time.

Lately, the rapper and the Instagram model have spent loads of time with each other. Sources confirmed that they recently attended Atlanta Hawks v. The New York Knicks game together. Additionally, they’ve even sported matching Louis Vuttion tops. In a leaked video of the two, Lil Baby wore the matching set, while Jayda sported a crop topped version of the shirt. Additionally, she wore camp print pants and a blue Birkin bag. It seems like the two have gotten awfully cozy with one another.
