'This was my dream when I worked in retail': Barista plays controversial 'mean prank' on rude customer

One high schooler asked r/AITA a question about her job conduct: was she in the wrong for playing a ‘mean prank’ on a customer who berated her? Often on the r/AITA page, there’s a swift conclusion of who was the a****** and who wasn’t. But this time, there’s an interesting nuance in the answers, with some commenters blaming the OP for her shortsighted approach to customer service. Others, of course, immediately sided with the OP, calling the customer the jerk in this scenario.

I’m surprised that the OP and her coworkers were able to pull this prank off. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you could just go around and do all the time, especially since one of her coworkers is the owner’s son! I’d probably be driven away from the establishment if I witnessed this prank go down. I wouldn’t want to support an establishment whose managers treat their staff that way. After all, the other customers don’t know this is a prank.

Scroll down to see if you think this prank went too far, or if the OP is totally justified in this hilarious joke. Then, read another prank of sorts — one bride found out her family member was going to upstage her, so she flipped the script!
