CNN’s Van Jones Under Fire for Contradictory Passes Given To Donald Trump
Sunny Hostin wants viewers to recall Jones’ sentiments when President-Elect Joe Biden won the presidency. In fact, he got extremely emotional while on air.
“This morning, being a parent feels easier. Being a dad feels easier,” he said, tears welling up. “Telling your kids that character matters, it truly matters.”
Yet, this energy is a stark contrast to his alleged support of 45 while he was in office. Hostin explains:
“Van, you often try to bring people together and find common ground,” Hostin started. “But some accuse you of being a political opportunist, like a chameleon, who offered racial cover for former President Trump, who was disgraced and impeached twice.”
Sunny Hostin added:
“Recently, you cried on CNN when Joe Biden became the 46th president, and you spoke about how being a parent feels easier now, and the importance of character and truth. You also brought up George Floyd and the feeling of suffocation in the Black community. Now, people in the Black community no longer trust you. How do you respond?”
Van Jones Defends His Stance
The CNN commentator takes a stand for his beliefs and a desire for a return to decency in America.
“People may not like everything I’ve said on television and I try to be balanced,” the CNN political commentator said. “Consider my accomplishments. How many of my critics have united people to assist those in need? When constant fighting and lack of acknowledgment prevail, it doesn’t harm politicians or pundits; it hurts everyday people who have very little.”
Jones continually argued:
“I’m never going to apologize for putting the interest of people at the bottom first,” he added defiantly. “People need champions. Whoever is in that White House, you have a responsibility to go in there, and advocate and try to get people home out of prison. I’m going to keep doing it, whoever is in that White House.”
Regardless of what side Van Jones falls on, Hostin fairly critiques his decision to ride the fence. The fact of the matter is, millions of Americans are happy to have true leadership again.
