'She won't even contribute $20?!': Stingy woman chooses her memoir over close friend's wedding gift

Where is this person’s friend group on their list of priorities? Pretty low, unfortunately for this OP’s wedding-bound BFF. As the OP shared in this post to r/AITA, they asked if they were really the bad guy just because they had some other priorities for their money. Seems straightforward at first…until the OP explained their friend group background and their current work situation. 

I think in this situation, the OP needs to have a slice of humble pie and like, touch some grass or something. They appear to be a jobless youngster who’s writing a memoir, but who can’t even spring a few dollars – not even $20! — towards one of their close friend’s big days. As many of the commenters noted, handing some a $20 bill and a card is kind of the least one can do for a wedding. For your best friend? It’s so shocking that OP would expect them to overlook a lack of presents for someone who supposedly is so close to them.
