Pop, Lock, and Jam Into Hip Hop At The Dance Worlds 2023

Hip Hop teams from around the world will soon be back on stage in Orlando, Florida to bring their authentic street style and hard-hitting moves to The Dance Worlds 2023.

You’ll see these nine different divisions in the Hip Hop category: Senior Small, Senior Small Coed, Senior Large, Senior Large Coed, Open Elite, Open Coed Elite, Open Premier, Open Coed Premier, and Open Male.

Hip Hop differs from other styles due to its emphasis on groove and style while maintaining synchronization. These nine divisions bring the complexity of movement and athleticism to new heights as they push the limits each year in an attempt to take home a gold medal. 

In 2022, Pittsburgh Poison All Stars stole the show by taking home the gold medal in Senior Large, Senior Large Coed, and a back-to-back title in the Senior Small Coed division. This dynamic Pennsylvania program continues to push its routines to the limit by performing a variety of difficult tricks all while keeping the energy up from start to finish.

Ambush from Pittsburgh Pride All Stars earned the top spot on the podium in the Senior Small division for the second time, their first being in 2018. The Senior Small division is known for its fierce competition between its top teams that toss up the podium standings each year. Pittsburgh Pride All Stars, Imperial Athletics, Legendary Athletics, Footnotes Fusion, and Next Level Dance Co are all programs that are no strangers to earning a gold, silver, or bronze medal in Orlando.  

The Open Hip Hop divisions have brought powerhouse programs from across the globe to The Dance Worlds stage since 2007. Angels Dance Academy hails from the United Kingdom and has made the journey across the pond to compete at this prestigious event since its start. Not only has ADA been a frequent flyer to The Dance Worlds stage, but the program has brought home a grand total of 13 medals, six of those being gold. Three of the six were brought home during The Dance Worlds 2022 in the Open Elite, Open Coed Elite, and Open Premier divisions. 

The Open Hip Hop divisions bring in top-tier talent and a variety of countries are represented from around the world including Japan, Mexico, Canada, Columbia, Australia, England, Ecuador, The Philippines, Scotland, The Netherlands, and The Dominican Republic just to name a few. Not only are these countries being represented, but their programs perform podium-earning routines. Seven Dancers, Velocity Dance, World Wings, Next Level Dance Co, Dollhouse Dance Factory, Team Pilipinas, and Stars Vipers San Antonio have all earned a podium position in the past, can they do it again in 2023?
