    Delaware State University Forgives $700K

Delaware State University Makes A Different Financially

Delaware State University recently announced that it will be forgiving $700,000 in student loans. This loan forgiveness initiative impacts students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are 220 students with more than $3,000 in debt who directly benefit from the initiative.

The university acknowledged that funding for the initiative came from the federal American Rescue Plan Act under the Biden-Harris Administration.

According to Antonio Boyle, most students get jobs after they graduate. The mission is to lighten the load so that they can have a fair chance at success after matriculation.

“Many graduates nationwide face significant debt, which hampers their ability to secure housing, cover relocation expenses, or adequately prepare for their post-graduation endeavors. Although we recognize that our efforts may not alleviate all of their financial responsibilities, we believe it is crucial to contribute in any way we can,” stated Boyle.

    The University President Responds

In fact, Delaware State University President Tony Allen disclosed the university’s intention. The objective is to make a meaningful impact in their students’ lives.

“Our students seek more than just a good college experience. Many are determined to improve their economic future for themselves, their families, and their communities,” Allen explained. “It is our duty to support them in every possible way to set them on the right path.”

Student Loan Forgiveness, Major Political Talking Point

Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley are urging President Joe Biden and his administration to explore forgiving up to $50,000 in federal student loan debt, highlighting the issue of student loan debt.

Former college students and liberal politicians look forwarding to the passage of national plans to achieve widespread student loan forgiveness.
