“Consider yourself 'on call'”: Worker encouraged to be maliciously compliant after company posts insane new rules

This person shared that their workplace is a toxic environment, and they had a photo to prove it.

On the r/antiwork subreddit (photo via the Wayback Machine), one employee posted the really ridiculous sign instated by their company. Commenters were delighted to leave suggestions for the OP and their coworkers.

“The entire staff should check in every hour on the hour with Gary,” suggested one person who’s familiar with malicious compliance. Others advised how illegal this whole scenario is (in most places) and encouraged OP to team up with their coworkers to sue. That would really show Gary how the employees could “work together”! One can hope that the sign-maker’s incompetence gets them fired, sued, or both.

Next, one Karen decided not to move when a construction crew asked her really nicely… only to have the situation quickly spiral out of her control.
