After only releasing a handful of albums, Selena Gomez has decided to retire from music. Being in the spotlight has proven too much for the singer to handle, especially when it comes to the haters. The news came as a shock to fans and even Gomez’s famous friends. Rapper Cardi B even has encouraged the singer not to quit the music business. In fact, she thinks a “Bad Girl Era” will give Gomez’s music career the boost it needs.
Selena Gomez Plans To Quit Music For Good
It comes as a shock that Disney alumni Selena Gomez wants to retire from music indefinitely. The 28-year-old sat down with Vogue to explain her reasoning behind leaving the music industry. The “Rare” singer revealed the struggles she’s endured throughout her career, one of them being the haters. “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’” the singer explained to the publication. She even expressed her frustration with releasing her best work and still not receiving the recognition she deserves. “‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.” The singer clearly feels underappreciated. Sometimes our best efforts don’t always pay off.
Despite her retirement announcement, Gomez wants to give her music career “one more go.” The Disney alumni had seemingly been referring to her new Spanish EP “Revelacion.” After teasing her track “Adios” off the EP, she told her fans “Goodbye” in her native language on social media. Honestly, Gomez’s newest album might just give her career the boost it needs. It’s no “Bad Girl Era” music but it certainly shows a side of the singer fans haven’t seen yet.
Cardi B Thinks Gomez Needs “A Bad Girl Era”
Selena Gomez’s retirement surprised both fans and celebrities alike. Rapper Cardi B especially expressed his disbelief at the news. The “Up” rapper took to social media to praise Gomez’s music and explained that she shouldn’t retire because of the “haters.” Additionally, Cardi B suggested that Gomez usher in a “Bad Girl Era” to boost her career. Gomez’s bestie Taylor Swift certainly had her “Bad Girl Era” with her late Reputation album. The record only made Swift all the more famous. Selena Gomez should definitely consider Cardi B’s advice.
