Brazilian fitness influencer Alana Alves da Silva, 28, known online as Vampira 085, died Saturday along with six others when the Fiat Cronos she was riding in crashed head-on into an oncoming car during a police pursuit on the BR-251 highway near Salinas in Minas Gerais.
According to the Federal Highway Police, officers tried to stop the Cronos at kilometer 314 on the afternoon of August 8 for a traffic check. The driver ignored the order and fled at high speed for about 10 kilometers. During the chase the car, which carried 137 kilograms of cannabis packed in more than 160 tablets, swerved into the opposite lane while overtaking four vehicles on a curve and struck a Chevrolet Astra at kilometer 304.
Alana, a Fortaleza resident with more than 57,000 social media followers who posted humor sketches and fitness content and ran an online fitness fashion store, died at the scene. Two other occupants of the Cronos, driver Pedro Yan Linhares Gutierrez, 24, and Ramon Silverio Nogueira, 19, were taken to a hospital in Salinas and later died of their injuries. A fourth passenger, a 20-year-old woman whose name has not been released, survived but remains in critical condition with severe head trauma and multiple fractures.
All four men in the Astra were killed instantly. Civil Police identified them as Argemiro Machado da Silva, 79, Valmir Machado da Silva, 76, Alcides Silva Santos, 77, and Gilmar Bispo dos Santos, 46, all residents of Ruy Barbosa in Bahia. The municipal government there issued a statement of condolence.
Civil Police delegate Douglas Ferraz Veloso said Pedro Yan Linhares Gutierrez was not licensed to drive and was wearing an electronic ankle monitor. He faces pending drug-trafficking cases in Ceará. Ramon Silverio Nogueira was from Aracati, the same Ceará city whose plates were on the Cronos. Investigators opened a formal inquiry into the crash and the drug seizure.
Firefighters reported that all eight people in the two vehicles were trapped in the wreckage. Five were already dead when crews arrived. The three survivors were freed and taken for medical care; two of them later died. Bodies were transferred to the medical examiner’s office in Taiobeiras, and most had been released to families by the following evening.
Alana Alves da Silva built a following in Fortaleza by mixing comedy skits with fitness videos and selling workout clothing online. Friends and followers described her as energetic and focused on her content and small business. Authorities have not indicated whether she knew about the cannabis in the vehicle.
The Federal Highway Police described the pursuit as a tactical accompaniment rather than a full high-speed chase, yet the final maneuver still produced a catastrophic head-on collision. The investigation continues under the Civil Police of Minas Gerais.
