Times Investigation Reveals Abuse Allegations Against Elon Musk’s Father, Errol Musk

Errol Musk, that 79-year-old dad of the mega-rich Elon Musk, is facing some pretty heavy accusations of sexually abusing five of his kids and stepkids over more than three decades. This all came out in a big New York Times piece from September 2025, pulling from police reports, court docs, chats with family, and social worker notes.

No one’s been convicted or anything, but the story lays out a messy family saga where cries for help apparently fell on deaf ears time and again.

The oldest claim goes back to 1993. Errol’s stepdaughter, just four at the time, told family he touched her inappropriately at their place in Pretoria, South Africa.

Fast-forward almost ten years to 2002, and the same girl now 14 says she caught him sniffing her underwear in her room while they were in California. Child services got involved, a report was filed, and they even pushed for a restraining order, per the Times.

Then in 2009, when she was 21, she accused him of forcing a kiss on her and shoving his tongue in her mouth. That led to her getting a temporary protection order back in South Africa.

More lately, in 2023, one of his sons who was only five said Errol groped his butt. Relatives tipped off social workers, who tried to step in.

From what court and police papers show, there were three investigations total. Two wrapped up with no charges, and we’re not sure about the third one’s status.

All this has just widened the cracks in the Musk clan. Elon’s been no-contact with his old man for years, calling him “a terrible human being” who’s done “almost every evil thing you can imagine” in old interviews.

Back in 2010, some relatives wrote Elon a five-page letter begging for his help. It said stuff like,

“We really need your advice, help and guidance in these matters because we daily see these children suffer,”

based on what the Times saw.

It’s not clear if Elon ever laid eyes on it, but he did shell out money to support a few folks, like an ex-stepmom and half-sisters. He also helped some relocate to California to get away from Errol’s orbit.

Still, Elon’s kept his distance emotionally. He hasn’t said a peep about the new Times report.

Errol’s flat-out denying everything, labeling it “false” and “utter nonsense.” He told the Times his family cooked it up to squeeze cash out of Elon.

“They’re putting the kids up to saying lies to extort money from him,”

He claimed.

This isn’t Errol’s first rodeo with scandal. In 2019, he admitted to having two kids with his ex-stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout, and he shrugged it off with, “The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce.” People were outraged, and it’s stuck to him ever since.

The whole mess raises tough questions about how abuse plays out in rich, famous families where power, bucks, and keeping secrets can mess with getting justice.

Errol’s got nine kids and stepkids from three marriages. The tangled relationships and dynamics, plus the spotlight on the Musks, keep drawing media attention.

Experts point out that no convictions don’t mean nothing happened it’s just hard to prove, especially with kids or old cases.

Right now, these claims against Errol are unproven legally but tearing the family apart. With 30+ years of accusations, probes that went nowhere, and endless public eyes on it, this highlights how tricky family abuse cases are to resolve and the need to report on them carefully and fairly.
