Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is now part owner of The XFL.
The XFL has just been purchased by a group that includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Founded by WWE frontman Vince Mcmahon, the football league my finally have the celebrity backing it needs to sustain.
The Rock is proving his talents once again exceed that which he is known for, as the former wrestler is now a team owner. After a somewhat successful season, the XFL was off to an excellent start. However, after having to cancel its season due to COVID-19, the league was hours away from a Bankruptcy option.
As sports fans around the world have been struggling with dealing with the lack of entertainment, The XFL signing is another sign of hope.
From it’s offset start during the early ’00s, the league always had the potential to be an alternative to the NFL. With a promise to be more “hard-hitting,” fans have shown an interest in seeing their favorite sport get more violent.
Furthermore, this past season was a glaring example of what kind of relationship the XFL could forge with its big brother NFL.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson becoming an owner of the XFL is enormous for the league and sports bettors alike. The Rock is easily one of Hollywood’s most bankable megastars, with a significant following on social media. With the Rock onboard and a lack of sports going, the XFL may finally become a mainstay.
