Swizz Beatz Keeps It Real at DMX’s Memorial

Swizz Beatz, DMX’s producer on numerous projects, was one of many who shared a few sincere words about the Ruff Ryders rapper. During his memorial speech, he reminded people to show up for others before they’re gone. DMX struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues, which led to his untimely death at the age of 50.

“We can’t put into words the magnitude of our loss, but we also have a significant gain. We have a guardian angel watching over us from above, guiding us on our journey,” he expressed. “I just wish these people showed up for him when he was alive. Now we see thousands of individuals claiming to be true supporters, seeking tickets and other things.”

He went on to say, “This man needed everyone’s support. He didn’t need it now that he’s gone; he needed it when he was still with us. We must learn to appreciate and honor each other while we’re alive.”

Swizz Commented on The Integrity of Tributes

“I don’t want y’all to show up to my shit when I’m gone, unless you was showing up while I was here,” he added. “I want to be bid farewell with the same love I received when you were by my side.”

The things that I’m witnessing from my brother’s passing was a big educational thing for me to learn. I’m glad I got to see it at this age. A lot of people aren’t your friends, a lot of people aren’t your family.”
