On Sunday, Britney Spears announced to her 34 million followers on Instagram that she and her boyfriend Sam Asghari are engaged.
Displaying the announcement via Instagram Reels while showing an engraved diamond ring with the word “lioness”.
The news comes just days after her father filed to end the conservatorship which has taken place over the past 13 years, taking control of her life decisions and financial status.
Britney Spears has previously said that the arrangement was “abusive”. While in court this past June, she mentioned that she wanted to get married and have children. However, the conservatorship prevented her to remove the contraceptive device.
“I have an IUD inside of myself right now, so I don’t get pregnant,” she told the judge. “I wanted to take the IUD out, so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children.”
In the caption of the post, she wrote, “I can’t f**king believe it! Where she kisses, winks Asghari on the cheek while answering “yes!” when he asks if she likes the ring.
The company who made the ring, Forever Diamonds NY, described the ring in a statement. The four-carat diamond ring has the engravement inside the band with “lioness” because it’s his nickname for her.
Asghari’s agent, Brandon Cohen, said the couple is “deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them.”
