Jack Harlow could sit back and bask in the glory of being a successful rapper. Despite all the criticism Harlow faces, he understands the power of his platform. As a voice for white people and the culture, the rapper remains who he is in the midst of it all.
“I feel blessed to have a voice in this period because, one, I’m not a street artist, and two, I’m not Black,” Harlow said. “The only thing keeping me here right now is that level of authenticity, of being myself.”
Jack Harlow Reminds White Kids To Be Themselves
During his interview with Footwear News, he praised Mac Miller and Odd Future. In the 2010s, they paved the way for white children to feel comfortable in the skin they are in. In fact, they don’t need to pretend to be tough. Jack Harlow has picked up the baton.
“All of this stuff was coming into the fold and it had this energy surrounding it of, ‘We’re letting the white kids come to the party. We’re all in this together,’” Harlow added, reflecting on a conversation he had with his close friend Nemo Achida. “He feels like the country going into these new civil rights moments almost shifted away from, ‘Let’s have the white boy at the party.’ It became less about let’s all be diverse together and turned back into Hip Hop being, ‘It needs to be a Black genre.’ That’s just been the natural transformation of things, I think.”
Harlow’s Actions Become A Statement
More importantly, Harlow took action in the face of police brutality. Instead of advocating for the Black community from his couch, he joined protests for Breonna Taylor. It took place is his hometown.
“The things I was doing last summer, any fans who didn’t feel like criticizing the police or were on the other side of things, I was going to weed them out,” Harlow added. “That could have been a moment for them to no longer be fans. But what is important is that I lead by example for all the white kids looking at me. This is what you do. You don’t just enjoy Black culture. You stand up next to Black people in a time of need.”

According to DC, there will be a three-issue miniseries on DC’s Black Label, entitled Batman: The Imposter. DC’s Black label designated for mature audience and Prestige-format releases will give this story freedom to explore the character in new ways and take the story as dark as it needs to for the story. Therefore, this miniseries will definitely be a dark, gritty, and brutal take of the Batman character and will push the limits of what wouldn’t be acceptable in the mainsteam comics.
Writers and Artist
The Batman series will include writers Mattson Tomlin, also known for his work on the The Batman film. Also, Matt Reeves and Peter Craig, who worked on films such as Project Power and Little Fish. As for the artist, Andrea Sorrentino is joining the project after her work on Green Arrow, Joker: Killer Smile, and Batman: The Smile Killer.

Although, this plan is difficult because Batman must prove his innocence without revealing his identity. But, how can you prove innocence hinding behind a mask? And will it matter to Gotham PD who is determined to take him down?
Black Label Release
Batman: The Imposter debuts in print and on participating digital platforms (English-language version) on Tuesday, October 12th. Upon the conclusion of the miniseries, it will be given a hardcover release for the entire collection. Thus, the hardcover format will be available February 22, 2021.
Sadly, accclaimed DC Comics artist Robson Rocha has died from complications due to Covid-19. The artist was hospitalized in June for Covid-19. Additionally, Rocha was only 41 years old and best know for his inkling of Aquaman comics. Evidently, following his hospital stay, the artist passed away on Sunday, July 11th, in his home country of Brazil.

Black Widow box office opening weekend earnings post Covid pandemic is nothing to sneeze at. Apparently, the Film took $218 million in total this weekend and is the largest domestic box office opening since Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Now, let’s analyze those numbers for a minute and find out how it arrived to that number. Movie theater earnings domestically totalled to $80 million box office. That number alone is one to be proud of. Then, it took home $78 million box office internationally. Well, that only adds up to $158 million. If you are thinking wait, that still doesn’t account for $60 million. You are right.

In additon to Black Widow box office numbers, it turns out the film also was aired for rental on Disney+ which was a great strategy cause the film made an addition $60 million globally on the streaming service. Marvel and Disney + attempted a strategy that DC and HBO Max already proved is successful. Post Covid, the film opened simultaneously in movie theaters and on the streaming giant, Disney +. This is the first film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to do so. Disney + made the movie available to subscribers to rent for an additonal $30.
Why Skip the theaters to watch Black Widow?
If you are thinking, why skip the theaters as the big screen makes the fim worth watching. Well, those who wanted to skip the movie theaters did so for convenience or extra caution. As a result of availability, they were able to stream the film in the comfort of their homes. Possibly, those premiere access subscribers were able to host watch parties. Either way, the strategy worked and will mostly likely be an option moving forward since it earned $60 million.

First and Last Olympics

Although Ari Fletcher and Taina seemed cool, Taina blocked G Herbo on Instagram this weekend.
Williams immediately clarified the situation via an Instagram comment suggesting that the couple is still together, while also confirming that she did actually block him.

G Herbo’s Success Despite The Drama
G Herbo addressed that he has a desire to work with fellow Chicagoan Polo G on a collaborative project. In early July, he said he will work with Polo, but now he has changed his tune on the anticipated collaboration.

Phillies win 11-2; Will momentum be affected by Covid protocols?
The Phillies have been performing exceptionally well in terms of scoring runs. Interestingly, players and coaches credit this newfound aggressive offense to the recent bans on “sticky stuff.” Unfortunately, a series of positive Covid tests now pose a threat to this momentum. However, before that, let’s talk about some exciting news from Murph Magic, who announced a remarkable game ahead.
The Philadelphia Phillies are currently leading with a score of 11-2. However, there are concerns about the team’s momentum due to Covid protocols and the ban on sticky substances. The Phillies’ offense has been impressive, scoring numerous runs. Follow their updates on Twitter.

Despite the absence of sticky substances, Fenway Park witnessed an impressive game. On July 10th, the Phillies dominated with 11 runs while limiting the Red Sox to just two runs. The scoring began when Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run double in the eighth inning, setting the stage for a flurry of runs.
Jean Segura had an impressive performance, delivering three hits and driving in three runs from the leadoff spot. Additionally, five Phillies players had multiple hits in the game. Alec Bohm contributed with a two-run home run in the second inning. In his last 26 games, Bohm has been performing well, batting .310 with five doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI. One of his hits cleared the Monster and hit a billboard near the left-field foul pole. However, in a surprising turn of events, he exited the game in the eighth inning due to a positive Covid test.
Segura hit his 10th career leadoff home run, sending the ball out of the ballpark. Additionally, Ronald Torreyes contributed with three hits, including a single that brought in a run in the eighth inning.
The Phillies have had a successful road trip, going 4-2 and scoring a total of 55 runs, averaging 9.2 runs per game. They have hit 15 home runs and recorded 30 extra-base hits in these six games.
Post “Sticky Suff” Ban Baseball
Fans are aware of the ban on pitchers using foreign substances, also known as the “sticky stuff.” As anticipated, this has led to more offense in the game, with the ball flying out of the park.
In my opinion, the use of foreign substances is most noticeable on fastballs. Pitchers who have a strong slider or breaking ball are less affected by it. However, it does impact their ability to pitch effectively at the top of the strike zone, which has been emphasized in recent years. That’s where I see the most significant change.

Alec Bohm & the Covid Positive test

Before the game, the Phillies released a statement regarding several players testing positive for Covid. It all began with a delayed positive test from Alec Bohm, highlighting MLB’s ongoing struggle with procedures and rule implementation during the pandemic. The screening process for players is not as effective as it should be, as seen in Bohm’s case where he played most of the game before discovering his positive test. Consequently, he was removed in the 8th inning, but by then, he had already been in close contact with his teammates throughout the day, posing a risk of exposure.
Moving on to the 7th to 11th, a game where Aaron Nola was supposed to start, an announcement was made. Aaron Nola, Alec Bohm (required to quarantine for a minimum of 10 days), Bailey Falter, and Connor Brogdon are now on the Covid IL. This unexpected development has disrupted the team’s momentum. Manager Girardi now faces the task of making decisions and adjustments. In the absence of Nola, Brandon Kintzler is designated to start, turning the game into a bullpen affair.
A Winning hand…Luck

Hollywood may be the place of stars, fame and fortune. Though, that doesn’t mean everyone gets along. In fact, some stars engage in petty social media feuds. Sometimes the online bickering, though, escalates and turns into an in-person altercation. Of course, fights never end well for anyone. Unfortunately, Meek Mill and Travis Scott had a verbal altercation at an all-white party in the Hamptons on the 4th of July. In particular, Meek Mill has been known to engage in a petty fight with a rapper or two via social media. He’s even fought several emcees in person. Some stars just can’t stay out of trouble.

Celebrity feuds don’t end well for either party. Meek Mill and Travis Scott’s verbal altercation at an all-white party certainly left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. Not only did the rappers ruin everyone’s 4th of July but they ended the party early for everyone.
Page Six reported that Travis Scott and Meek Mill fought at 1:30am. Video footage of their altercation has been shared by Rap Alert’s Instagram account as well as others. Sources note that the two engaged in a “loud verbal argument” that made everyone take notice. Afterwards, the fight ended between the two when they “were led away from each other.” Unfortunately, sources don’t indicate what exactly lead to the fight or the verbal exchange shared between them. Though, given the video footage, their fight turned serious. It’s a shame the party had to end over a petty fight between them.

Furthermore, Philadelphia’s 76er’s Michael Rubin hosted the all-white party. Several big names attended the event such as Beyonce and Jay-Z, Bon Jovi, Alex Rodriguez, Yo Gotti, Lil Uzi Vert and Robert Craft. Clearly, the all-white party had plenty of stars in attendance. Unfortunately, it had to close upon Travis Scott and Meek Mill’s petty altercation.

Naomi Osaka Back in The Spotlight
Naomi Osaka, a four-time grand slam champion, chose to step away from public communication.
In fact, Osaka withdrew from the French Open in May and opted not to compete in Wimbledon. She was vulnerable in her expression of mental health issues including anxiety and depression.

In addition to tennis star Naomi Osaka’s award, several other talented Black women were celebrated for their successes. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles won best championship performance, WNBA star Maya Moore took home the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, and pro wrestlers Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair took home the award for best WWE moment.
Belair commented on the Black women duo’s accomplishment.
“I’m just so blessed and so honored to be the woman in this position to portray this diversity and this representation,” Belair said on the duo’s behalf. “I always say that representation is not a request, it’s a requirement, and that’s what we did at Wrestlemania.”
Words As a Sport
Zaila Avant-garde attended the ESPYs after becoming the first Black student to win the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee. As a spelling bee sensation, the young Black queen adds to her repertoire of impressive skills. Avant-garde is in the Guinness Book of World Records for her basketball skills too.
ESPYs host Anthony Mackie shouted out track star Sha’Carri Richardson. She made her first public appearance since being controversially banned from the Tokyo Olympics. Unfortunately, her chances at showcasing her talent on the world stage due to a choice made during a tough time in her life.

G Herbo’s Evolution
During his Complex interview, G Herbo compared ‘25’ with ‘PTSD,’ his previous album. The albums illustrate different aspects of the rapper’s life.
“I feel like 25 is different [from PTSD] in a way,” he explained. “PTSD, mental health, that’s me. That’s going to always be something that’s true to me because of the importance of mental health. But I’ve grown as an artist, just lyrically and mentally. Where I am [now] is not what PTSD was. I’m in a different head space.”
He explained, “This album is about my current journey and my upbringing at 25 years old.” I feel like all my music is a reflection of me, but I want it to be different. As much as I mature, I want my music to mature.”

Drake has announced his upcoming sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy. In a surprise appearance on Sound 42’s “Fry Yiy Friday” on SiriusXM, he shared an update on the highly anticipated project, stating that it is almost finished. He will be returning to Toronto this week to work on the album’s mixing.
Drake shared that he will be returning home to mix the album, and he mentioned that his daughter is excited to hear the new tracks. He expressed his eagerness to reunite with his dog and complete the album.

Drake assured fans that his sixth album, Certified Lover Boy, would be released by the end of January.
