Wiz Khalifa Defends Healthy Co-Parenting Relationship With Amber Rose

Wiz Khalifa has drawn a clear line for any potential romantic partner: his amicable, ongoing relationship with ex-wife and co-parent Amber Rose is non-negotiable.

In a January 2024 episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the rapper was candid about the boundaries he’s set for future relationships, emphasizing that a new partner must not only accept but actively appreciate his friendly dynamic with Rose.

“I’m super duper open about the boundaries that me and Amber have,” Wiz said on the show. “If you expect me to keep a conversation short with her or not laugh when I’m on the phone with her… we gonna have a problem.”

He added, “It’s not just something a partner has to ‘accept,’ but you’re gonna have to really enjoy that… that’s gonna have to make you happy too.”

The comments, which have circulated in viral clips from the episode titled “Wiz Khalifa: It’s Not Cute to Cry in a Threesome (FBF),” underscore the pair’s notably positive co-parenting relationship years after their split. Wiz and Amber, who share 13-year-old son Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, have maintained a public friendship marked by mutual respect and frequent joint appearances at family events.

The “Black and Yellow” rapper explained his stance further in the interview: “I’m not going to mistreat her to make any woman feel better. So if you expect me to bad mouth her or keep a conversation short with her or not laugh when I’m on the phone, we’re just simple… You’re going to have to want that for me.”

Wiz and Amber began dating around 2011, married in 2013, and welcomed Sebastian shortly after. Their marriage ended in divorce amid public friction in the mid-2010s, but the two have since moved past the drama to prioritize their son. Amber has similarly described their current bond as platonic best friends in interviews, telling the Tamron Hall Show in early 2024 that they are “so far past being in love” and focused solely on co-parenting.

As of 2026, the pair continues to attend school functions, birthday celebrations, and other events together, projecting a united front. Wiz has noted that time has smoothed over past issues, telling Call Her Daddy, “Things have just eased up and become a lot more enjoyable and just regular.”

Public reaction to Wiz’s comments has been mixed. Supporters have lauded the setup as healthy co-parenting and a model of maturity, while others questioned whether the close friendship blurs boundaries or places undue pressure on new partners.

Wiz, who also shares daughter Kadence with his current partner, has been open for years about the strength of his co-parenting situation with Amber, including in prior interviews such as on Drink Champs. His latest comments serve as a straightforward filter for anyone entering his life, making clear that a secure, supportive partner is essential for the blended family dynamic he envisions.
