Newly Surfaced Clip Reveals Moment Car Arrived at Diogo Jota’s Fatal Crash Site

A burning ruin illuminated the A-52 highway outside Cernadilla, Spain. At around 00:35 local time, Portuguese football legend Diogo Jota, 28, and his younger sibling André Silva, 25, died in a horrific car accident after their Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder skidded off the road, overturned, and caught fire.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene but confirmed both men had died instantly. The Spanish Civil Guard now suspects a tire blowout during an overtaking maneuver led to the fatal crash, with no evidence of another vehicle’s involvement or foul play. A newly surfaced video first shared by @upuknews1 on X shows the harrowing moment a car arrived at the burning wreckage. The footage aligns with reports of tire marks, scorched roadside grass, and charred debris scattered across the motorway.

Jota’s death has sent shockwaves through the football world. Born December 4, 1996, in Porto, Diogo Jota full name Diogo José Teixeira da Silva rose from local club Paços de Ferreira to Premier League fame with Liverpool FC, where he tallied 182 appearances and 65 goals, helping secure league and cup triumphs. He also earned 49 caps for Portugal, scoring 14 goals and becoming a beloved figure on and off the pitch.

His younger brother, André Silva, also went his own football way. A midfielder for Penafiel in the Liga Portugal 2, André played 96 first-team appearances and was recognised for his technical ability and unassuming tenacity.

Sadly Jota had only just reached a milestone in his personal life marrying long-term partner Rute Cardoso on June 22nd just 11 days prior to the crash. R and Jota had three young kids together. As Jota had undergone lung surgery recently, he was dissuaded from flying and so they decided to take the road trip via Spain to Santander where the ferry would take him to the UK for pre-season with Liverpool.

Tributes have poured in. Liverpool FC, the Portuguese Football Federation, and global football legends like Cristiano Ronaldo honored Jota and Silva’s memory. Ronaldo called the deaths a “senseless loss” and “a reminder of how fragile life can be.”

A minute’s silence was held during Euro 2025 Women’s Championship matches and across clubs including Bayern Munich. Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot described Jota as “a leader, a friend, and a fighter who gave everything.” Digital condolence books opened for fans globally, while funeral services are scheduled for July 4–5 in São Cosme, Porto.

While grief rippled through the football world, the posting of the crash site video ignited outrage. Critics slammed @upuknews1 for insensitivity, with X users like @Lea_EFC pleading for its removal:

“This is not news. This is trauma. His kids will grow up one day and they do not need to see these videos ever.”

As investigators await final autopsy results, all signs still point to a mechanical failure most likely a tire blowout as the primary cause. There’s no indication of intoxication, reckless driving, or speeding, despite speculation.

What remains is a tragic void in football and Portuguese society. Diogo Jota wasn’t just a goal scorer he was a father, a husband, a teammate, and a role model. His legacy, alongside his brother’s, will live on in the hearts of fans worldwide.

As the world looks back, the accident is a humbling lesson of road safety and of the sympathy we owe each other, particularly in times of heartbreak.
