Emerging artist Mykii J recently released a brand-new single entitled “This Ain’t A Diss.” This brand new single showcases Mykii J’s brilliant musicality as the single is full of uniquely sleek style, razor-sharp bars, and sensual vocals, which he made sure to utilize in the catchy instrumentation.

Mykii J is paving his way to success with all the originality you can expect from an outstanding performer like himself.

Mykii J chatted with us and answered our unique 4 Questions. Check it out below.

HYPEFRESH: So tell us, how did it all begin? What encouraged you to start playing and making music?

Mykii J: I have always had a passion for music. When I was little, my parents kept a vinyl record collection. I have always loved singing, but I was shy.

I found the courage to audition for the school choir in middle school. Performing in a collective was a way to slowly desensitize myself, performing in front of the crowd and doing what I loved.

I began writing and publishing poetry in 2018 when I realized I could write music. I wrote my first original song titled “Crime Scene” in 2020, and the rest is history.

HYPEFRESH: Describe your creative process when you write new music.

Mykii J: I don’t typically schedule formal writing sessions for myself. Melodies often come to me organically; when a new melody comes to mind, I record it on my phone and then go back later and fill in those melodies with lyrics. Sometimes I’ll co-produce my records by beat-boxing how I want the song to sound, and then I send it over to my producer to flesh out the beat.

HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?

Mykii J: What I like most about being an artist is creating my atmosphere. I feel blessed to have the talent to relate to others musically and connect with them. I want my catalog to have something for everybody. I want my catalog to have something for everybody. My goal is to be authentic and relatable.

HYPEFRESH: Name Three things you can’t live without in the studio.

Mykii J: Three things I can’t live without when in the studio include Hot lemon water with honey, my laptop, and my brother, Tyler, for moral support and comic relief!
