Ed Matthews Sparks Debate After Asking Michael Jackson’s Son About Skin Pigmentation

This week, a quick video clip blew up on X, pulling in over 600,000 views since it dropped on December 16, 2025. It shows British streamer Ed Matthews sitting with this young dude, jumping right into a heavy question about why Michael Jackson’s skin tone shifted so much. The caption reads:

“Ed Matthews asks Michael Jackson’s son why he would bleach his skin to turn white and his answer was insane.”

To a lot of folks just scrolling by, it felt like some huge scoop from MJ’s own family. But dig a little deeper, and it’s just another example of how social media twists stuff for likes and shares.

The clip’s from a recent Kick livestream where Matthews who’s this TikTok star and boxer famous for his raw, unfiltered vibe is checking out this insane collection of Michael Jackson stuff. He’s talking to the guy, who’s rocking a black jacket covered in MJ patches. Matthews doesn’t hold back:

“How did his skin colour actually change? He had Villa Ligo, which is a skin condition where your skin is, uh… So what, he actually looks white, like it looks like he’s born white. He would bleach his skin. Do you know the reason behind that?”

The guest thinks for a sec and says:

“Well, I think that he was shy and he didn’t like people like… You know, when you’re hella famous, bro, people are gonna say anything about you. I’m sure you know, like there’s people on the stream saying like everything possible, right? So imagine if you’re the most famous celebrity, right? Literally the most famous. Everyone’s gonna be saying like, oh, like anything, right? So, I don’t know. Do you think it’s to do with the industry or just to do with like… Obviously, it was obviously a mental thing.”

He keeps going, explaining that Jackson had vitiligo, this autoimmune thing that messes with your skin’s pigment, leaving white patches. As it got worse, Jackson went for treatments to make everything even, so his skin ended up lighter all over instead of patchy.

But here’s the twist that kills the hype the caption says this is “Michael Jackson’s son,” and that’s straight-up BS. People in the replies on X were quick to call it out, posting pics side by side showing the guy looks nothing like Prince, Paris, or Bigi Jackson. Turns out, he’s Parker, the kid of some billionaire who scooped up tons of Jackson’s personal gear after he passed. Parker’s old man was apparently tight with MJ or in his circle, which is why the dude knows so much and has that jacket loaded with memorabilia. This isn’t even new; clips like this from Matthews’ streams back in August 2025 got shut down for the exact same fake label.

Vitiligo’s pretty simple your immune system goes after the cells that give your skin color, creating those white spots. Jackson got diagnosed in the mid-80s, and it progressed from there. He didn’t “bleach” to switch races; he used stuff like prescription Benoquin cream to fade the dark areas left, aiming for a consistent tone. That matches what he told Oprah in 1993:

“I have a skin disorder that destroys pigmentation of my skin. It’s something I cannot help.”

His doc, Dr. Arnold Klein, confirmed it, and the autopsy in 2009 showed clear signs of pigment loss from vitiligo.

Even Prince Jackson, MJ’s real oldest son, talked about it in a 2023 chat on the Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast. He said his dad was self-conscious about the uneven skin, and being so famous just amplified the stress. No shady racial stuff just a man handling a crappy health problem in the public eye.

MJ’s appearance has fueled wild rumors for years because the change was so visible and happened right in front of everyone. In today’s social media game, where views pay the bills, guys like Matthews cash in on controversial hooks. This whole mess shows how simple it is to slap a wrong tag on a video and let it run wild, turning a real talk about a medical issue into phony family gossip.
