Slim Thug reacted following a break-in at his penthouse apartment last week in which he lost a significant part of his prized jewelry collection and stash of cash. The break-in occurred while Slim Thug was out in San Antonio cheering for his University of Houston Cougar team at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
The break-in occurred in the evening of April 8, 2025. The Houston Police Department says four men, who have not been identified, burglarized Slim Thug’s penthouse high-rise apartment from 3:30 to 11 p.m. They allegedly used force to break down a door to enter and stole an unknown quantity of jewelry, currency, and other items.
The rapper, famous for his 2004 single “Still Tippin’,” went public about learning of an apparent break-in following his realization. Plainly upset, he stated, “Petty thieves hit a good lick, man. They stole from me for jewelry. I was slipping.”
The break-in brought serious doubt about security in the building. Slim Thug was in shock at how such an incident would be possible in what was believed to be a secure skyscraper.
“I have no idea how they got in,” he said in a video uploaded by No Jumper. “I have surveillance video we’re viewing now.”
The management of the building and Slim Thug are both sifting through surveillance tapes in an effort to identify the culprits. Police said the tapes revealed the four men entering and leaving the complex with the stolen goods. Police have yet to make arrests, and they continue to investigate.
Despite Slim Thug having insurance, he confessed that it won’t pay for everything. “I had insurance, but not enough for all my sht,” he stated. “It would have taken $10,000 in insurance to cover all my sht.”
He said, “But they ain’t get all my sh*t either though.”
In spite of losing, Slim Thug is learning his lesson. He stated he’s done spending his money on jewelry and intends to spend his future funds wisely. “I’m just gonna purchase some cars now. Jewelry ain’t it no more,” he explained. Reactions online were mixed. Some showed sympathy and support for Davis, while others were outraged and inquiring about who might have helped the intruders get in.
“Sounds like someone knew he wasn’t home,” one of them wrote. Another replied, “How do four men get in a penthouse like that without assistance?”
Even if these remain merely rumors, they do reflect an increasing pattern of doubt when celebrities become the targets of high-profile crimes.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t Slim Thug’s first time expressing concerns about the monetary aspect of being an artist. He had just criticized singer Dawn Robinson’s dilemma last month, asserting artists should be in charge of what happens to their songs. “Off them hits, she should still get enough money to pay some rent around this btch,” he stated, continuing, “If them people owned they sht, they would be in position to pay for somethin’ with they check.”
