Lil Durk Arrested: Rapper Charged with “Murder For Hire”, Held Without Bond

UPDATE: Durk Banks, aka LIL DURK, has been transferred from Broward County Jail and most likely is currently on the way to California, where he’ll face an unsealed indictment that will charge him as being the lead Co-Conspirator for ‘MURDER FOR HIRE’ for Quando Rondo cousin LUL PAB death.

Rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, is in custody, maintained under serious charges that include murder-for-hire and conspiracy in South Florida. The 31-year-old artist is best known for his association with the Only The Family Collective, better known as OTF, and is currently held without bond in Broward County Jail.

The arrest came after a prolonged investigation, which began after an alleged 2022 plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman. Authorities believe that it was related to an ongoing feud-originating dispute following the 2020 murder of King Von, who was a close friend and affiliate of Lil Durk. The murder of Von has been cast as the root of the dispute between the OTF camp and those aligned with Rondo.

Unsealing an indictment from Los Angeles federal court, Lil Durk and five other members of OTF have been formally indicted. Included within the indictment were Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. Prosecutors have charged them with conspiring to commit a violent attack on Rondo, a short-sighted plan that led to another victim bearing the brunt.

Federal prosecutors say resources from OTF were used to finance key parts of the scheme, including flight reservations and the purchase of firearms. But it would not go according to that script. Rather than Rondo, the object of the scheme, they mistakenly killed his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. That misidentification has complicated an already high-profile case.

In one of the more surprising turns in the case, federal investigators say Lil Durk provided incentives for the attackers by offering music industry rewards for the assassination. Prosecutors say the rapper’s control over his OTF crew reached well outside the music world and into illegal activities, erasing the line separating his music business from his crimes.

Lil Durk has been denied bond and released from custody while he awaits a transfer to U.S. Marshals. The involvement of federal authorities suggests this is a case that will more than likely be prosecuted at the federal level, adding some serious weight to the charges he faces. According to legal experts, the denial of bond speaks to the severity of allegations and flight risk concerns.

Lil Durk’s lawyers have yet to comment on the matter officially, but the arrest is bound to generate frantic public interest.
