All disturbing videos that went viral over TikTok have led to the arrest and felony exploitation of a disabled person against a 19-year-old healthcare worker, Lucrecia Kormassa Koiyan. Videos depicted Koiyan, in scrubs and donning a stethoscope, dancing provocatively over a seated disabled person and, in another video, over another disabled person who was in a bathtub. The incidents have caused public uproar, thrown a spotlight on the exploitation of the most vulnerable, and hot debate over social media content.
The first video, which showed Koiyan only a little over three weeks ago, on January 23, 2025, went viral at once; it depicted Koiyan dancing suggestively above a disabled person. The content went viral across all social media platforms, with Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry described the behavior as “disgusting.” The video brought an immediate investigation by the Loganville Police Department.
After the video was posted, police obtained a search and arrest warrant for Koiyan. She was arrested early Tuesday morning at her home and booked into Walton County Jail.
Koiyan’s futile attempt to defend herself through a follow-up video claimed that the disabled person in the first video was “verbal” and seemed “aware and comfortable.” That, however, was only a justification that added fuel to the fire. A second video of her dancing over another disabled person in a bathtub further heightened public condemnation.
The exploitation of a disabled individual for the purpose of attention on social media is quite serious, and to this context, Chief Lowry expressed it precisely as “making the video and posting it to social media for your own benefit is the exploitation of that person.” Serious issues are now placed at large pertaining to ethics, professionalism on behalf of the caregivers, dignity concerns, and, finally, humane treatment towards handicapped individuals-particularly in medical environments. Those are among other reports from other improper activities by Koyian, not confirmed and under investigation by a host of authorities considering others to possibly come forward as victims. They’re also investigating if Koyian was employed in an adult daycare program and if others may be involved.
