51-Year-Old Gaming Grandma Streams Valorant for Late Daughter’s Headstone

A 51-year-old gamer from the U.K. is channeling her grief into marathon Valorant streams, aiming to raise money for a proper headstone for her daughter who died nearly three years ago.

Known online as GrannyGamingz, the streamer has returned to regular broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube, dedicating her earnings to a dedicated savings account for her daughter Brooke’s memorial. Brooke passed away in July 2023 following complications from a second kidney transplant and a subsequent lymphoma diagnosis.

In heartfelt posts and during her streams, GrannyGamingz has alleged that hospital staff missed early signs of her daughter’s cancer, leading to a delayed diagnosis that came too late to save her. Those claims have not been independently verified.

Brooke, born in 1998, was not only her mother’s daughter but also her gaming partner. According to GrannyGamingz, it was Brooke who encouraged her to begin streaming around 2022–2023, telling her that as a “gaming grandma,” she would stand out from the crowd and could handle any online backlash.

“I never felt grief so deeply or hurt so bad,” the streamer has shared publicly about the loss.

GrannyGamingz paused streaming entirely after Brooke’s death but made her return in November 2025 with a clear mission. She now streams Valorant almost daily, often logging long sessions as she grinds through competitive ranks — recently pushing from Gold toward Platinum — while mixing in personal reflections about her journey and goal. Her channels boast several thousand followers across Twitch (grannygamingz) and YouTube (@GrannyGamingz), where she posts extended gameplay videos and occasional Just Chatting content.

Beyond the headstone fundraiser, she is also seeking legal assistance to explore potential action regarding her daughter’s medical care, with a possible statute of limitations deadline approaching around July 2026.

The story gained traction in recent days after spreading across gaming communities and social platforms, with many praising the mother’s resilience and dedication. Supporters view it as a poignant example of turning profound loss into purpose through the very activity she once shared with her daughter.
