ASAP Rocky & Rihanna Home Shooting: Chef Witnesses Smirking Gunman

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were inside an Airstream trailer in the driveway of their Beverly Crest home when a suspect allegedly fired multiple rounds from an AR-15-style rifle at the property on March 8, according to newly released LAPD documents.

No one was injured in the incident, which took place around 1:20 p.m. in the 9500 block of Heather Road. The couple’s three young children, Rihanna’s mother, a nanny, and other staff were all inside the main residence at the time.

According to the police report, Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) and A$AP Rocky (Rakim Mayers) were resting in the trailer when she heard approximately 10 loud bangs. She looked out and saw bullet holes in the trailer’s windshield and windows.

“She grabbed Rocky and pushed him to the ground,” the documents state, quoting Rihanna as yelling, “They shooting at us!” The pair then rushed into the main house to check on their family. Bullets struck the trailer, the exterior wall of a second-floor nursery in the main home, and a neighboring property.

A chef on her first day working for the family provided a critical eyewitness account. While sitting in her car scrolling TikTok outside the residence, she noticed a woman in a white Tesla parked nearby who was “smirking or smiling as if she was about to do something naughty,” per the report. Moments later, the chef heard loud popping sounds and saw the Tesla speeding away with smoke coming from a window.

LAPD arrested Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old speech therapist from Orlando, Florida, approximately 30 minutes later in a nearby parking lot. Authorities linked her to the white Tesla and the weapon used in the shooting. Police say she fired at least 20 rounds during the incident.

Ortiz faces 14 felony counts, including one count of attempted murder of Rihanna, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle. She pleaded not guilty in late March.

Recent court proceedings in early-to-mid May have included competency discussions, with Ortiz reportedly pushing for a speedy trial. She remains in custody on bail set at approximately $1.875 million.

When speaking with detectives after her arrest, Ortiz said, “Can I say one sentence? I would like to say that I wasn’t attempting murder. But that’s all I wanted to say.”

Rihanna told investigators she has experienced past issues with stalkers and online threats, though no specific recent warnings preceded the March 8 incident. LAPD documents note that Ortiz had posted disturbing videos online expressing disdain for the singer.

The couple has maintained heightened security awareness due to previous stalker incidents. Visible bullet damage to the trailer and property was documented in the investigative file, portions of which have become public in recent days.

The case remains ongoing.
