Charlie Puth Named Chief Music Officer of AI Platform

Charlie Puth is stepping further into the tech side of the music business. The Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer has been named chief music officer of the AI-powered music platform Moises, the company announced this week.

In the newly created role, Puth will help guide the platform’s creative and product direction, advising on tools designed for songwriters, producers and musicians. The position will see him working closely with the company’s development teams on artist-focused features, music-production workflows and new AI capabilities intended to support — rather than replace — the creative process.

Puth, who the company says has been using the app for years, described the platform as a practical tool for speeding up tasks that traditionally require studio time or technical setups. Features such as isolating vocals, separating instrument stems and experimenting with arrangements can be done quickly within the app, allowing artists to test ideas in real time.

Moises markets its platform to a global community of musicians and music students, offering AI-powered tools that can split songs into individual tracks, detect chords, adjust pitch and tempo, and generate backing tracks for practice and production. The technology has become particularly popular with producers, DJs and educators who use the software to analyze songs or build new arrangements.

Moises CEO Geraldo Ramos framed Puth’s appointment as part of the company’s broader mission to keep artists at the center of its technology development. In announcing the hire, Ramos said the goal is to position AI as a creative tool for musicians — “a brush in the artist’s hand” — rather than a system that automates the artistic process.

The partnership arrives as the music industry continues to debate how artificial intelligence will affect songwriting, recording and music rights. While some artists and labels have expressed concern about AI’s potential to replicate voices or styles without permission, others see the technology as a powerful tool for accelerating production and expanding creative possibilities.

Puth’s involvement is notable given his reputation as both a pop hitmaker and a technically skilled producer. Known for sharing behind-the-scenes videos of his songwriting and production process, the artist has built a following around his deep understanding of music theory and studio experimentation.

By bringing Puth into a leadership role, Moises appears to be betting that direct collaboration with working artists will help shape tools that reflect how music is actually created in studios and home setups.

The company is expected to roll out new artist-focused features in the coming months, with Puth advising on product development and workflow integrations aimed at songwriters, producers and educators using the platform.
