Wack100 Reveals Jay Z Could Sell Ye’s Catalogue to Kendrick Lamar

Music industry insider Wack100 dropped a bombshell during a recent members-only stream on No Jumper’s YouTube channel with host Adam22 on April 26, 2025. Wack100 claimed that Jay-Z is considering selling part of Kanye West’s music catalogue, with Kendrick Lamar as a potential buyer. This revelation has sparked heated discussions among fans and industry insiders, raising questions about the ownership of Kanye’s iconic discography and the dynamics between these rap titans.

Wack100 didn’t hold back, sharing his thoughts on the potential deal and its implications.

“I believe…you know, the fact that he may have got wind that Jay-Z is uh considering selling Kendrick part of his old catalog might have pissed him off,”

Wack100 stated, suggesting Kanye may be upset about the rumored transaction. He clarified that it involves

“part of Kanye, you know, Jay-Z owns some of it,”

    and added,

“He’s considering sellers and Kendrick was, was thinking of was so Kendrick’s in the market for buying part of Kanye’s catalog.”

The claim has stirred controversy, especially since Wack100 speculated on Kanye’s reaction, saying,

“I think he might have got wind of that.”

He also addressed whether Kendrick should be blamed, noting,

“I don’t think that’s not even like a personal thing, but I think now Kendrick just might take Jay-Z up on that deal, bro. That’s a W.”

These statements have fueled speculation about whether Kendrick, known for his strategic moves in the industry, would indeed pursue such a high-stakes acquisition.

However, the claim’s validity remains uncertain. Industry sources indicate that Kanye’s early albums, including The College Dropout and Graduation, have their master recordings likely owned by Def Jam or Universal, given Kanye’s releases under Roc-A-Fella Records, which was sold to Def Jam in 2004. Kanye is believed to own the masters starting from his 2013 album Yeezus onward, complicating the narrative that Jay-Z personally controls parts of Kanye’s catalogue. A prominent radio host recently stated on April 3, 2025, that Jay-Z does not own Kanye’s catalogue, citing a reliable source.

The backdrop of this rumor is tense, with Kanye recently making headlines for public jabs at both Jay-Z and Kendrick. In a March 2025 interview, Kanye implied Jay-Z profits from his catalogue, asking,

“How much money you think Jay-Z makes off my catalog versus what I make off it?”

This ongoing friction, combined with Wack100’s comments, has led some fans on platforms like X to dismiss the claim as mere trolling, with one user suggesting it’s

    “dumb shit people fall for.”

Neither Jay-Z nor Kendrick Lamar has publicly addressed the rumor, leaving fans to speculate on social media. If true, such a sale could shift the control of Kanye’s musical legacy, a sensitive issue given his past battles for ownership of his work, as highlighted in discussions about artists’ rights in the music industry. For now, the hip-hop community awaits clarity on whether this deal is a real possibility or just industry gossip.
