A short clip showing several well-known costumed characters in an over-the-top scuffle is quickly becoming one of the internet’s favorite new distractions.
On Friday, Nov. 28, DramaAlert — the popular online entertainment account with more than 2 million followers — posted a 19-second video titled, “Mascots are now throwing down in the streets… Who won?”
The footage, filmed vertically and at low resolution, appears to capture a spontaneous and playful mascot “melee” in a narrow urban alleyway lined with graffiti and fire escapes. Roughly a dozen bystanders can be seen watching, cheering and recording as costumed performers playfully wrestle and tumble over one another.
The clip drops viewers directly into the action. In the opening seconds, a performer dressed as a large green ogre figure can be seen grappling with a pink starfish character while a square yellow sponge costume bounces between them. No one appears to be in danger — the movements are exaggerated, slow and clearly meant for laughs.
Moments later, a chubby red-jacketed character charges into the scene, knocking one mascot into a wall before attempting to grab another by the costume’s exaggerated points. The energy is pure slapstick, with oversized gloves and foam bodies turning every attempted “hit” into a harmless wobble.
As the chaos continues, a Mr. Potato Head performer joins the fray, briefly tossing one of his detachable accessories toward the group. More tumbling follows, ending in a full mascot pile-up that cuts off abruptly — leaving viewers jokingly debating which character came out on top.
The characters featured appear to be wearing professional rental-grade suits, complete with plush materials, foam builds and detachable parts. Because visibility inside these costumes is limited, the clumsy movements only amplify the comedic effect.
Though the source of the gathering remains unclear, the mix of characters from various well-known franchises suggests it may have been part of a planned flash mob, street-theater performance or social media collaboration. No injuries or conflicts beyond playful wrestling are visible, and there are no indications of law enforcement involvement.
