On Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Independent Spirit Awards took place in Santa Monica, California. It’s a night of glamour and award-winning films, and the stars certainly didn’t disappoint on the fashion front.
Some wore a gorgeous gown, while others went all out with an eye-catching suit. But which look stole the show?
Taylor Swift
Swift has always been known for her smoldering red carpet appearances but she took it to a whole new level on Saturday night. Her opulent midnight blue gown was certainly eye-catching, but the look also had an underlying meaning behind it.
The country princess was clearly paying homage to her recent legal battle with Scooter Braun. She wore a white shirt that had the title of each album she has released in black letters.
Adele
Kristen Stewart served as the honorary chair at last night’s Independent Spirit Awards and looked stunning in a sparkling Chanel two-piece. She paired the glittery crepe top with black pants, which showed off her figure and kept it casual enough for an evening appearance.
Lily James also looked confident and stylish at the ceremony, opting for a Del Core crop top and tailored trousers. Her voluminous princess gown-inspired sleeves of the embellished pink bralette were a gorgeous match for her pants.
Harry Styles
Harry Styles, one of the original members of One Direction, became a solo artist in 2017. He launched his self-titled debut album in 2017 and is known for his out-of-the-box fashion sense.
He has also been a big supporter of philanthropy, frequently donating proceeds to various causes. He has appeared on television and stage to raise awareness for many different issues, including gender equality.
While he was a member of One Direction, Harry Styles also enjoyed a successful career as a solo artist. He has won multiple awards and made an impact in the music industry.
Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham made her debut in the world of film with her breakout indie Tiny Furniture. Her show drew praise and awards, including an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
The star has since branched out into TV, but her style and social climber reputation have come back to bite her. People close to her tell us that she has a tendency to only associate with the people who can help her achieve success, which can get frustrating.
That said, she’s always been one to push the limits of fashion. For example, she debuted a pink-and-red ombre Giambattista Valli Couture gown at the 2014 Emmys. It was a bold choice, but her platinum-blond bob and simple accessorizing pulled it off.

Katy Perry showed off her best-dressed look at the Independent Spirit Awards, wearing a black denim mini dress with a bustier top and opera gloves. She accessorized her look with a Judith Leiber football clutch, which was a perfect fit for the event!
The actress, who is serving as honorary chair of the Independent Spirit Awards, styled her slightly damp strawberry blonde hair in cool waves and applied a classic smoky eye. She paired her look with black high-heeled boots, which added some edge to the otherwise feminine ensemble.
Anna Kendrick
Kendrick’s journey commenced as a child actor, gracing theater productions with her talent. She earned a Tony nomination for her role in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society.
After starring in Camp (2003), she made her film debut in Twilight (2008), playing the friend of Bella (Kristen Stewart). Her appearances in the sequels New Moon (2009) and Eclipse (2010) helped establish her as a Hollywood star.
Kendrick has gone on to star in a number of films, including Pitch Perfect (2012) and Into the Woods (2014). She also has a voice acting career, lending her vocals to Legsly in Trolls World Tour.
Shania Twain
Shania Twain is a self-described “sensible person” who has a lot of respect for her humble roots. Her parents died when she was young and her mum raised her in Timmins, a small mining town in Ontario.
She started out as a country music singer, but changed her style to rock and roll. After her debut album release in 1993, she continued with a string of hit songs.
Following a tumultuous divorce, her marriage came to an end when her husband, producer Robert Lange, was discovered having an affair with her best friend and personal assistant, Marie-Ann Thiebaud. But Twain found love again in her second husband, Frederic Thiebaud.
