Real Boston Richey Out of Jail Today

A video showing Florida rapper Real Boston Richey, born Jalen Taheen Foster, celebrating with friends after an apparent release from jail went viral on August 26, 2025. Fans flooded TikTok and Instagram with posts declaring, “Richey is free!

But court documents and federal court papers paint a more nuanced picture though the 27-year-old rapper won a partial victory in his federal drug and weapons case, he’s still locked up because of a Texas warrant and problems with his bond.

Real Boston Richey is a rapper from Tallahassee signed to Future’s record imprint, Freebandz. He gained mainstream popularity in 2021–2022 with singles such as “Keep Dissing” and his track “Public Housing.” Future elevated his reputation even more by guesting on his track “Bullseye 2.”

In spite of his swift ascent, he has had his share of legal woes. Between 2014 and 2017, he was convicted of robbery, burglary, and possession of a firearm. He was charged by federal prosecutors with conspiracy to distribute marijuana and unlawful possession of firearms in November 2023.

Legal Timeline

Nov. 2023 — Federal indictment on drug conspiracy and firearms charges

Feb. 2024 — Released on bond under strict conditions, including travel restrictions

Mar. 2025 — Allegedly violated bond by traveling to Texas without court approval

Apr. 2025 — Arrested for bond violations; returned to custody

Aug. 21, 2025 — Jury acquits Richey on two federal gun charges; jury deadlocks on marijuana conspiracy count

Sept. 29, 2025 — Retrial scheduled for unresolved conspiracy charge

While Richey’s friends posted clips of him smiling, hugging supporters, and saying

“You know this is a dream team; I’m the real deal!”

official records paint a different picture.

The Texas case further complicates matters. According to filings from Harris County, Richey faces a warrant related to assault-family-violence impeding breathing involving his ex-partner, Tatiana “Chanell” Charles.

Charles alleges Richey choked her outside a Houston nightclub in March 2025, causing unconsciousness and vomiting. These claims remain under investigation and could result in Richey’s extradition to Texas.

Even with the legal misfortunes, the popularity of Richey has not declined totally. His 2023 mixtape Public Housing is still trending on music globally, and he is still signed to Future’s Freebandz. But concerns over his retrial and Texas case may halt upcoming projects, tours, and collaborations.

Music industry insiders note that label executives are monitoring developments closely before committing significant resources to his next release.

On TikTok, hashtags like #FreeRichey and #BostonBack have collectively drawn over 40 million views. Fans cheer his “freedom,” while critics accuse him of dodging accountability.

Verified outlets, including VladTV and XXL, caution readers that Richey’s situation is far from resolved. The viral video, while real, does not reflect his actual custody status.

Real Boston Richey’s courtroom battle is far from over. While his acquittal on two major federal charges marked an important legal win, his future remains uncertain. With a retrial looming, a Texas assault case unresolved, and custody still in place, his legal narrative continues to unfold playing out both in courtrooms and across social media timelines.

As Richey himself said outside federal court,

“It’s crazy… I’m the real deal.”

For now, though, his freedom hangs in the balance.
