    Nicki Minaj Rises To Diamond Status

    Nicki Minaj has gone on to become one of the biggest solo female rap acts in hip-hop. Even before the streaming era, Minaj’s influence on the culture and the rap game skyrocketed. Needless to say, the rap Queen deserves her flowers and more. While the Grammys have yet to award her, the Recording Industry Association of America was more than willing to show Minaj some love. Recently, RIAA honored Nicki Minaj with the diamond status for her 2011 hit song “Super Bass.”

    On a few of her songs, Nicki Minaj often makes the point that “These b***ches are my sons.” Over the years, that statement has rung true. Nicki Minaj has surpassed several female rappers of the new generation, in sales, streams and longevity. Furthermore, the rap Queen has solidified her place among the great rappers of our generation. Even fellow rappers like BIA, have argued that she deserves the same respect as Jay-Z. It seems the tides of change have finally happened as the RIAA just awarded Nicki Minaj the diamond status.

    Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” Goes Diamond Status

    Rarely, do artist reach the diamond status by the RIAA. On Tuesday, the Recording Industry Association of America awarded Nicki Minaj’s 2011 hit song “Super Bass” with the diamond status. The association confirmed that the hit single made over 10 million sales in the United States.

    Minaj herself posted a video of the proud moment on her Instagram on the same day. Moreover, Minaj flaunted her “Super Bass” plaque, all while playing the song in the background. In the captions, Young Money’s first lady thanked everyone from Lil Wayne to Taylor Swift for making “Super Bass” a hit record. Congrats to Nicki Minaj on all her success!
