    New Orleans Jazz Fest 2021 Cancelled

    New Orleans Jazz Fest will be postponed according to the event officials. In the midst of rising coronarvis concerns, particularly with the highly contagious Delta variant. Monday’s news comes after a number of festivals across the country have gone on without a hitch. 

    Cancellation Details 

    New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival posted a cancellation explanation on the festival website alluding to “The rapid increase in COVID cases in New Orleans and the surrounding area.”

    The 2021 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, scheduled for October 8-17, 2021, has been canceled.

    Unfortunately, this is the second time that the event did not take place as a result of the pandemic.

    The popular music festival attracts a half a million visitors to New Orleans, coming in second to Mardis Gras. Several artists were lined up to hit the New Orleans Jazz Fest stage including Stevie Nicks and H.E.R. In addition the Foo Fighters, Nora Jones, Elvis Costello, Wu-Tang Clan and Jon Batiste also had scheduled appearances. In addition, the festival added The Rolling Stones to the bill two weeks ago. 

    Future Festival Plans

    Festival organizers assured attendees that they have an action plan in place and advised people to act according to CDC recommendations. 

    Organizers are encouraging everyone to follow the guidance of health officials while looking forward to the upcoming Jazz Fest. The event is scheduled for April 29 to May 8, 2022. Attendees of the 2021 festival will receive email updates regarding refunds and rollovers.

    No one knows what the next six months to a year may look like. Hopefully, Spring 2022 is a safer time for festival goers.
