Lebron Gets Pass for Violating League Covid Restrictions
The National Basketball Association is defending its decision to not suspend Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. This comes after he violated the league’s health and safety protocols.
James attended an outdoor promo event for Lobos 1797 Tequila. He is an investor of the liquor brand. The gathering, where attended by Drake and Michael B. Jordan attended, occurred outside. It required attendees to have the vaccine or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
“It’s against the rules, and we have addressed it with the team, as we have done in similar cases across the league,” said an NBA spokesperson to ESPN on Friday.
The NBA Doubles Down on Lebron Decision
The league released a statement that furthered confirmed the importance of James’ attendance.
LeBron James attended an outdoor event last week where participants had to be vaccinated or provide a negative test result. The NBA confirmed that his attendance did not pose a risk of spreading COVID-19, so no quarantine was required. Similar violations of the league’s health protocols have been addressed with other players’ teams this season.
Vaccinated NBA players are allowed to participate in outside activities, including commercial engagements and sponsor appearances, as per the current league rules.
Lebron Stance: Vaccine or No Vaccine
Nonetheless, the jury is still out on whether or not Lebron has received the Covid-19 vaccination. His family is important to him. And Lebron makes it clear that the world doesn’t need to know what he has chosen to do.
